The BSc (Honours) in Health Informatics aims to produce graduates with the interdisciplinary expertise required to lead and support Ireland’s digital health transformation. Dietitians are uniquely qualified to translate scientific information on food, health and disease into practical guidance enabling people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. Health Science with Occupational Therapy Studies is the study of the human body with particular focus on Anatomy and Physiology and provides a foundation to Occupational Therapy studies. The aim of this full-time one-year programme is to provide the learner with an understanding of treatment and therapeutic interventions in everyday activities in a variety of healthcare settings.

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings or to progress to further and or higher education and training in Ireland or the UK. This course will also equip students with basic skills in physiotherapy assistance.

The Health Services Supervisory Management Skills programme equips learners with the advanced knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to work independently or take on supervisory responsibilities within a variety of health service environments. This QQI Level 6 award strengthens leadership capability, enhances professional confidence, and prepares graduates to contribute effectively to the delivery and coordination of quality care.

Successful completion of the programme enables learners to progress into supervisory roles across diverse healthcare settings or continue their studies through further or higher education and training, supporting long term career development within the health sector.

This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills to work in the nutrition or general healthcare area, where nutritional, general health or mental health support, is required.

Students will learn the importance of developing a holistic and client focused approach to work. They will also, develop the knowledge and skillset, to meet the emotional, psychological and social needs of clients in the healthcare sector. The role exercise, diet and nutrition plays in maintaining and enhancing both physical and mental health will be a focus of the course.

This programme will provide you with the skills to launch a career as a professional in the health, fitness and leisure sectors. It involves the study of six major subject areas, five of which are common to all students: Exercise Science, Health Studies, Activity Leadership, Physical Education and Professional Practice. For the sixth subject area, students study either ‘Education in Aquatics’ or ‘Outdoor and Experiential Learning’.

At the end of second year, students enter the Physical Education, Adapted Physical Activity or General Health and Leisure streams which allows students to begin specialise in specific topics in third year or continue to take the general health and leisure programme. There is also a 12-week work placement in third year, which can be completed with a local, national or international service provider.

This full time Healthcare course is designed to equip students to work effectively as Healthcare Assistants (HCA). This course satisfies the qualification requirement for HCAs recommended by the Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA).

The course provides a high standard of training and assessment and facilitates the student to develop a range of skills and specialist knowledge to prepare them for work in the healthcare system.
