The Payroll (Manual and Computerized) module is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the systems used to manage employee compensation and statutory deductions. You will gain a dual-competency approach, mastering the fundamental logic of manual payroll calculations—including PAYE, PRSI, and USC—before transitioning to industry-standard payroll software. The course covers the full payroll cycle, from processing new starters and leavers to managing Year End procedures and Revenue reporting

This module is a comprehensive training program designed to master the dual pillars of modern financial administration. You will begin by learning the fundamental mechanics of manual payroll, developing a deep understanding of how to calculate gross pay, statutory deductions—such as PAYE, PRSI, and USC—and voluntary deductions. This course ensures you can maintain accurate, compliant, and secure records for an organization while operating confidently under general supervision.

The Pre-University PE Teaching & Sports Studies course is designed to provide you with a range of skills and aims to prepare for a career in teaching, coaching, strength and conditioning. You will study the theory of Sport and Recreation, Exercise and Fitness and a range of team coaching awards that are immediately relevant to this dynamic, energetic and fast-moving sector.

You will study the theory required to gain an understanding of the various elements of the sport and fitness industry. This combination of practical and theory-based study will support you to access a range of career opportunities including PE teaching, Strength and Conditioning, Sport and Recreation Management. You can progress direct to work, or to additional Further and Higher Education.

This BFA degree offers a broad and holistic approach to the performing arts, one that not only concentrates on performance from a participatory perspective (that is to say, on being a performer), but also prepares the student for the wide and exciting range of careers available in the performing arts industry. While performance remains a central aspect of the programme, students are also prepared for the vast array of work that supports and produces performance, such as directing and staging, creating written material for performance, production, management, marketing and funding of the performing arts.

The programme is based around live theatrical performance (with elements of recording used for diagnostic and development purposes), but at the same time a graduate is prepared for further study in all cognate specialisms in the performing arts, as well as entry into a professional career.

This one-year full time course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge for performing and a desire to step up on stage, in front of a camera or behind a microphone. The course also explores the application of digital media and understanding the requirements from the other side of the stage. The course aims to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop key skills for acting in theatre, television or voice work while developing their confidence and talents.

This programme is designed to provide graduates with the skills to work as actors in theatre, film and television. Coursework includes skills classes, workshops, masterclasses from industry professionals and performances in the universities's Black Box theatre. Throughout the three years, students are introduced to the main acting genres and given a range of approaches to acting. In addition to vocal and movement skills, students learn how to create characterisation. Although we will want to see students develop as creative individuals, they will also learn to be part of an ensemble.

We have developed this programme in consultation with arts practitioners in Ireland and abroad. It has the support of nationally and internationally-acclaimed theatre and film practitioners as well as major locally-based arts organisations including the Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, The Model Arts Centre and The Hawk’s Well Theatre.

This programme is unique in Ireland, offering tuition to Level 8 in the linked fields of acting and theatre design. The design strand is linked to the Abbey Theatre, giving students access to rehearsals, technical departments, work placements and backstage.

If you’re passionate about theatre, film, or performance and want to develop your skills in a professional, creative environment, this course is for you. The Performing Arts programme helps you explore the world of performance, whether you dream of being on stage, in front of a camera, or behind the scenes making it all happen.

You will have the opportunity to develop advanced level technical skills in Acting, Dance and Voice, as well as focused preparation for auditions both for access to Higher Education courses, and for performance roles and casting. This advanced course includes in-depth study of creative performance development processes including improvisation, characterisation and devised and scripted work.  You will develop the knowledge and skills of a theatre practitioner through the processes of directing and devising.

This programme provides individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to attend and complete a programme of study at MTU.

The major themes of the programme address personal and professional development, effectiveness and agency, with a view to enhancing employability and opportunities for further studies.
