This also opens up opportunities in a range of business careers including financial planning, banking, accounting, economics and management consulting. Postgraduate options include economics and finance. A highlight of the programme is the opportunity to undertake a three-to-six-month work experience placement as part of third year. Students can alternatively choose to study abroad on Erasmus.

The aims of the degree are to produce graduates with developed mathematical, statistical and computing skills, and the ability to apply them to the quantitative analysis of industrial, commercial or financial business decisions. The programme also aims to produce graduates with sufficient mathematical, statistical and computing skills for them to undertake postgraduate work in these or related areas.

The BSc in Financial Mathematics and Economics (BSc in FME) programme is a four-year degree programme consisting of courses in mathematics, economics, statistics/probability, applied mathematics, accounting and business finance, and computer science. The programme’s aim is to equip students with expertise in quantitative subjects, with a particular focus on financial economics, actuarial mathematics and statistics.

The degree should appeal to people who enjoy mathematics and are interested in studying economics and other subjects in the financial area. (Please note that you do not have to study economics for the Leaving Certificate to be admitted to this course.)

Students on the Financial Risk Management degree will learn theories exploring market, credit and enterprise risk, whilst gaining expertise in the statistical software that is used to measure these risks.

There is an integrated placement year, which allows students to gain valuable practical experience working in a professional environment.

The BA in Fine Art is designed for students who wish to work as cultural producers in the Fine Art sector. The course is focused primarily on acquiring the knowledge and skills that are needed to operate as a visual artist in a competitive environment, nationally and internationally.

There’s a strong emphasis on developing skills acquisition, creative intelligence and conceptual and critical thinking abilities, which are integrated with modules in Critical Theory and Professional Practice.

This is not a CAO entry course - course fees required - apply directly to the college.

The BTEC Fine Art course provides a dynamic and comprehensive program covering essential techniques in drawing, ceramics, 3D studies, printmaking, and photography. While the initial focus builds a broad skill base, the second year encourages a self-directed approach, allowing students to specialize and refine their personal artistic practice. This combination of guided instruction and independent exploration ensures graduates develop both technical mastery and a unique creative voice.

If you aspire to a career as an artist, this course will support you to produce an exciting, competitive and creative art portfolio to help you explore your creative and artistic skills. It will allow you explore all aspects of fine art.

You will explore core practical skills including drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media which are essential skills to prepare you for art colleges. You will use your creative thinking, ideas, style and visual communication throughout the creation of your portfolio.

Practical projects and exhibitions include opportunities to work with professional artists, and to experience the professional world of the artist.

All departments in the School of Fine Art - Media, Painting, Fine Print , Sculpture and Applied Materials - help students to develop a highly individual way of seeing and interpreting, and of expressing themselves visually.  Emphasis is placed on visual awareness and artistic analysis, on acquiring skills in the use of both traditional and new materials and media.

This studio-based programme prepares students for the professional world of contemporary art; learning how to make, experiment, research and critique art. Students will explore and engage with: painting, drawing, sculpture, print, photography, performance, sound, video, and digital media in varied contexts. Students are encouraged to experiment with a wide range of media in order to develop their individual art practice.

The degree is designed to offer students the widest possible experience in materials and media - drawing, painting, digital media photography and video, ceramics, printmaking, sculptural studies, work in context, visual literacy and visual material culture, and history/theory of art. These are taught with a focus on the student’s own research and art-making initiatives as the years progress.
