The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings and / or to progress to further or higher education and training.

This programme aims to provide the student with the necessary knowledge and skills to progress onto a nursing degree course within higher education in Ireland or the UK.  Successful students can apply for degree courses in Ireland and the UK.

This one-year full time NFQ course is an introduction to those who wish to progress on to paramedics, either in the Fire or Ambulance Services. This course equips the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge in areas relevant to these careers. This course will improve the chances of recruitment in either the Fire, Ambulance Service, Nursing or Healthcare. Learners will gain essential knowledge and skills in areas relevant to these careers. This course is also suitable for adults seeking qualifications to return to the workforce. The course design is vocational in nature.

This intensive one-year program serves as a dual-purpose gateway for students aspiring to enter the nursing profession or work as Healthcare Assistants. The curriculum is led by clinical nurse practitioners, ensuring that nursing theory and practice are grounded in real-world expertise. Students train in a specialized nursing suite—modeled after a hospital room in St. James’s Hospital—using industry-standard equipment such as manual and ceiling hoists, hospital beds, and wheelchairs. 

This one-year full-time course combines academic and practical learning to enable you to acquire the essential knowledge, skills and competence to work in any healthcare setting as a HCA and to progress successfully to higher education to any branch of nursing.

This one year course is designed to develop a solid foundation in the theory and practice of nursing care. It is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in the nursing profession or to progress to higher education in other related areas. It is also aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in healthcare support roles such as healthcare assistant.

This preparatory course is geared for those who intend to go on to further training for the BSc Degree in Nurse Education either in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales or abroad.

You will be introduced to subjects/topics commonly studied in the first year of the nursing degree programme. Learn about the skills and knowledge of the nursing profession with an emphasis on respect, dignity, empathy and confidentiality.

This course is an introduction to Nursing and will benefit anyone wishing to enter the Healthcare profession using a QQI qualification. It is recognised nationally by Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland and in the UK. It provides a learning environment, in which learners are encouraged, assisted and ultimately required to take responsibility for their own learning. Essential skills in nursing care are taught by our qualified staff in our fully equipped ward.

Students must complete work experience in a Nursing/Care facility. Prior to engaging in practical Work Experience, students will complete both People Moving & Handling and PHECC First Aid Responder (FAR) Courses.

The Nursing Studies - Maternity and Children program is a specialized foundation course designed for aspiring midwives, pediatric nurses, and healthcare professionals. By combining diverse theoretical modules with a practical work placement—which students arrange in a healthcare setting of their choice—the course delivers a comprehensive overview of specialized maternal and pediatric care. Nutraceuticals are concentrated compounds obtained from food sources that can provide health benefits, including prevention of disease and health promotion. Examples of nutraceuticals include substances such as Omega 3, antioxidants or probiotics.

This course covers a range of scientific disciplines and new nutraceutical technologies. It aims to produce contemporary food scientists capable of exploiting this growing opportunity in health and wellness.

Throughout the year, you will have the opportunity to meet scientists, researchers, and experts in the area. This generally takes the form of talks, workshops, and field trips.

This course is designed to meet the need for scientists with technical competency in the design, development, production, analysis and upgrading of products that are involved in the maintenance, restoration and promotion of human health and wellbeing.

Graduates will be able to apply their understanding of human nutrition and its role in health and disease to various sectors of the food and health industry and identify and address nutrition-related problems in individuals and populations.
