The Skills for Life Programme is designed to support young adults to progress to further education or employment. Students will develop personally and professionally in areas that will support a good quality of life. Students will develop skills and confidence in health and wellbeing, digital skills, team working and IT Skills.

Smart Product Engineering is aimed at those with an interest in the design and development of digital devices and services that they encounter every day.

A novel teaching and learning approach focussed on developing product solutions from the outset is employed whereas existing programmes tend to start with component analysis and building up to system development. This approach has a strong practical focus, producing graduates with the ability to conceive, design, implement, operate and evaluate smart product prototypes. The students will operate with a system engineering perspective while using rapid prototyping to get a real-world understanding of design, production and user-driven constraints in new product development.

This one year programme is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to work as a Special Needs Assistant in a variety of educational settings.

This course is designed as a collaboration between QQI and FAI and also between Pearson Awarding Body (BTEC) and Liverpool Football Club.

The Pearson BTEC International Specialist Award in Liverpool Coaching Skills and Practice is designed to provide both male and female learners, knowledge and skills required to work in the sport industry as a football coach. It is for learners who wish to explore coaching “The Liverpool Way” and use theories and practices to plan, deliver and review their own coaching session.

Students on this course will gain pathways into higher education and the football and fitness industries, with coaching badges including FAI PDP1, PDP2 and PDP3 which will give the students employment opportunities as a football coach and referee in Ireland.

The HND in Social & Community Work has been developed to prepare you for employment in Community Work. This internationally recognised course is also an excellent springboard into third-level education.  You will study a wide range of related dis-ciplines such as sociology, psychology and social policy, all of which are delivered by highly qualified and experienced teachers. The course focuses on the importance of personal and professional development in the workplace.

Learners will attend college four days per week in first year and three days per week in second year. The remaining days may be used to satisfy the work placement requirements of the course. Students generally pursue a placement in their vocational area of interest with the support and guidance of the course coordinator. Garda vetting is required prior to commencing work experience and organised by the college.

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence, to work independently and or take responsibility for the work of others in providing a range of services in a social and vocational rehabilitation context and or to progress to higher education and training.

Social care workers provide professional individual or group care to clients with personal and social needs, in a caring, compassionate, non-judgmental way. Client groups include children and adolescents in residential care; young people in detention schools; people with intellectual or physical disabilities; people who are homeless; people with alcohol/drug dependency; families in the community, older people, and asylum-seekers/refugees.

This course will familiarise you with the latest concepts and theoretical developments in the relevant academic disciplines, and help you to develop as a self-aware, reflective, altruistic, empathic social care professional.

Social care practitioners work in a wide variety of settings with a wide variety of people: children and adolescents in residential care, people with learning or physical disabilities, the homeless, people with alcohol/ drug dependency, families in the community, older people or recent immigrants to Ireland. Social care practitioners typically work in a direct person-to-person capacity with service users. This programme is delivered through a blend of lectures, workshops and two full semesters of off-site, supervised practice placement.

This course is designed for people who want to attain the standards of proficiency for social care workers as defined by CORU. The learner will engage with 18 modules that explore social care practice and how it applies in various social care settings. Students will complete over 800 hours of supervised practice placement, in a social care setting.

Social studies examines  the past and current behaviour of individuals and societies. The overall aim of the course is to develop critically reflective, skilled and ethically aware practitioners with the capacity to build professional relationships, in partnership with vulnerable individuals and groups who experience marginalisation, disadvantage or special needs.
