This course will give learners the knowledge and skills necessary to work effectively with their own dogs or to progress professionally as a dog trainer. Handling dogs responsibly will be a focus of the course to enable learners progress to any of the animal care industry roles.

This essential healthcare program is designed to equip learners with the core knowledge, skills, and professional competence required to excel in a modern care environment. This apprenticeship consists of four on-the-job phases with an approved employer and three off-the-job phases in an educational organisation. Apprentices will be invited to attend their off-the-job training phases in accordance with the SOLAS scheduling system.

On completion of this four-year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified carpenter and joiner, with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Carpentry and Joinery.

You will go on to be employed in the construction industry on building sites, in a joinery shop or in maintenance and other areas like renovating buildings, shopfitting, exhibition/display work.

Many craftspersons use their qualification as a platform to launch careers such as managers, owners of businesses and instructors amongst others.

It is strategically designed for individuals aiming to secure apprenticeships or progress into higher-level construction degrees, providing the hands-on experience and safety knowledge required for the modern building industry.

This one year full-time course at Post-Leaving Certificate level is designed for students who aspire to apprenticeships in Carpentry & Joinery or related trades. It also allows successful students the opportunity to progress into further studies at Third Level or Further Education.
