The Games Development course is designed to encourage the development of key games development skills especially in the areas of games software programming, design, graphics and project management. Learners will learn how to use and implement popular game engines like Unity 3D in the creation of their own games software titles while studying core development languages. Additionally, learners will create graphics, animations, sound and look at their implementation possibilities for modern technologies such as the web, mobile devices and gaming consoles. Learners will get hands on experience of exciting technologies such as motion capture, AR and VR.

Successful learners will have an extensive knowledge of games software development as well as an extensive portfolio of work including individual games.

This degree uses a software engineering approach to games development, combining study of the technical aspects of games programming, including virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence, with the principles of project management, quality assurance and organisational management.  While focused on developing games software, we also provide a general grounding in software engineering to equip students with the breadth of skills to work in any aspect of the information technology industry.

This one-year introductory course is designed for games enthusiasts who wish to master the foundational skills required for the games development industry. The curriculum focuses on a "learning-by-doing" approach, introducing students to industry-standard software such as Maya for 3D modeling, Photoshop for texturing, and Unity 3D for game engine integration. 

This is a preparatory degree that brings virtual worldbuilding, design and creativity together with game engine technologies to enable students to gain practical skills in game engine programming on platforms including Unity, Unreal and Blender. The final years of study will focus on the acquisition of scientific skills in food science, sensory and flavor science.
