The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) will make you eligible to apply to be registered as a social worker with regulatory bodies in Ireland and internationally. This full-time four-year undergraduate degree is open to mature students only, and integrates university-based and agency-based learning. Successful completion leads to an academic qualification (BSW) and it is approved by the Health and Social Care Professional Council as a social work training course.

Sociology is a discipline concerned with the explanation of social life and human behaviour. It equips students with the skills to understand the breadth of social experience, ranging from the global (including power and politics, norms, religion, conflict and peace, the digital world, climate change, racism, sexism and other forms of inequality) to the personal (including family life, intimacy, emotions, beliefs and mental health).

It studies everyday social practices, as well as discussing questions around economic inequality, power, gender and race, for example. Politics looks more at the decision-making process that groups or organisations make. These don’t necessarily have to be governmental. Politics can be found in most interactions, from schools to businesses and religious institutions.

Taking a combination of Sociology and Politics, this degree gives students an insight into how social and political forces affect our everyday lives and what we can do to effect change. By equipping students with an in-depth knowledge of society and politics on a national and global scale, we encourage them to look beyond face-value assumptions and start questioning what is perceived as common sense in our world.

This programme is designed to produce graduates who can design, develop, and maintain integrated systems that combine software development with sensor technology, instrumentation, and calibration. The programme bridges the gap between traditional computer science and engineering disciplines to address the growing need for professionals who understand both software development principles and control systems integration.

Software Design for Mobile Apps and Connected Devices is a course that teaches students how to design and develop software applications for mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, and IoT devices. The course covers topics such as user interface design, data management, networking, security, testing, and deployment. Students will learn how to use various tools and frameworks to create software solutions that are responsive, reliable, and user-friendly.

The aim of this exciting new degree is to provide a multidisciplinary undergraduate education by developing specific expertise and comprehensive training in the key areas relevant to the emerging Internet of Things: mobile app development, connected device programming and software development/engineering.

The goal is to produce qualified and well-rounded graduates capable of working in a range of IT positions such as Internet of Things mobile app developers, programmers, system integrators and system validators.
