This Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science course is aimed at students who want to develop their knowledge of Nutrition, Health Promotion & Food Science. The applied nature of this programme focuses on the relationship between food and health and the study of food from a scientific view point. This course provides successful students with the knowledge, competency and entry requirements necessary to access numerous science based programmes at Third level colleges throughout Ireland. The course also provides students with the necessary skills to gain employment in the food industry.

This program offers a comprehensive introduction to the evolving fields of nutrition, health promotion, and food science. It bridges the gap between theoretical science and practical application, focusing on the critical link between diet and human health. Learners gain a robust foundation in dietetics and food technology, developing the skills to analyze the biochemical properties of food and understand its impact on physical performance and wellbeing. The curriculum is specifically designed to prepare students for the academic rigors of specialized degree programs or for direct entry into the health and food retail sectors.

This one-year full time The Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science course is aimed at students who want to develop their knowledge of Nutrition, Dietetics, Health & Food Science. Students are introduced to the areas of Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Processing and Biology. This course equips the learner with vocational skills and knowledge to acquire the theory, principles and techniques underpinning the science of dietetics, food and health. It also allows students to progress to a variety of third-level courses in the science and nutrition areas throughout Ireland. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) programme is aimed at students with a strong interest in food, nutrition and food product development as well as students who are interested in developing a diverse range of entrepreneurial skills and business acumen. The BSc seeks to prepare students for the challenges of producing foods safe for human consumption, developing more nutritious, healthier food options for dynamic, ever-changing markets.

The BSc Nutritional Sciences course focuses on the role of diet in health promotion and disease prevention (including problems related to undernutrition and over-nutrition, and especially the major non communicable chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis). This is done from an individual, national and international perspective, using insights gained from a wide range of scientific disciplines.

The BSc in Occupational Health and Safety Management is a multidisciplinary programme that examines the relationship between workplace factors and human health, safety and well-being. Students study subjects including the basic sciences, health sciences, engineering, law, management and regulatory affairs among others.

The programme is designed to meet the needs of industry and provides students with a high-quality qualification in the multidisciplinary area of Occupational Health and Safety Management.

This programme gives students the knowledge and skills to protect workers from injuries and fatalities, prevent illness caused by work, promote health and wellbeing, and advise employers on health and safety law. Students also learn how to prepare, implement and monitor safety management systems in the workplace. The degree provides students with the knowledge and skills to put in place environmental, health and safety in the workplace. This combined with the fact that our graduates will also be qualified to act as trainers.

The degree gives a blend of theoretical and practical learning through lectures, laboratory based monitoring, site visits, case studies and enquiry based learning.

Occupational Therapy is an interesting and rewarding career. Occupational Therapists aim to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. As an Occupational Therapist you will assist in enabling individuals to do things that enhance their ability to live independently in their daily ‘occupations’. ‘Occupation’ is the term used to describe those tasks and activities essential for daily life – washing, dressing , feeding and moving around, to the more complex areas of working, leisure, socialising and managing finances and home.

The Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy is a four-year degree programme which includes a total of 1000 hours of practice education placement completed at various sites. In the first year of the program you will study anatomy and physiology related to human performance and human development across the lifespan. Later years include modules on occupational therapy services for children and young people, people living with mental health difficulties, musculoskeletal disorders, chronic and neurological conditions and older adults. Students will have opportunities at all stages of the program to develop professional skills including communication and advocacy skills, clinical reasoning skills and skills.

Students on this broad and varied Occupational Therapy course study psychology, anatomy and physiology, as well as occupational therapy theories, assessment and treatment approaches and evidence-based practice.

At the end of this degree programme will be able to: Promote health and wellbeing through participation in occupation across the lifespan; Practise occupational therapy in accordance with the World Federation of Occupational Therapists Revised Minimum Standards for the Education of Occupational Therapists (2002) ensuring your practice is occupation-based, evidence-based, person-centred and culturally sensitive; Apply the occupational therapy process to individuals, groups and communities of all age groups in context, based on strong theory and evidence.

This course helps students to develop their interpersonal, caring and practice skills which they can apply to a varied range of client groups in a variety of settings. Whilst at the same time understanding the importance of maintaining a client’s independence, dignity, respect, self-esteem and choice.

Students will learn a range of practical skills within the classroom in a simulated healthcare environment using equipment from an occupational therapy setting. This helps to prepare the student to work with the service user/clients on work-placement. Students will gain practical experience in the areas of:

• Assist in the implementation of therapeutic programmes
• Personal care routines
• Working as part of a Occupational Therapy team

Work experience is also a core feature of the Occupational Therapy Assistant programme with students spending time in a occupational therapy setting, enhancing employability.

This course introduces the world of healthcare with a particular emphasis on occupational therapy. The programme will develop your understanding of how therapy is used to find practical solutions for people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems.

You will be introduced to supporting people regain independence in all areas of their lives, through the use of aids and equipment. You will acquire the skills and competencies necessary to assist the Occupational Therapist. Training in therapeutic splinting is provided.

This course prepares students for a career as an Occupational Therapy (OT) Assistant, exploring how mobility impairments affect daily performance. Through a two-week placement in settings like rehab centers or elderly care, learners gain hands-on experience in the OT process—from assessment to treatment. Graduates develop the practical skills needed to support therapists in implementing rehabilitation programs and enhancing client self-care.
