The BA in Psychology and Computing is a degree in which psychological research, theory, and knowledge is applied to a context of increasing importance to the modern world – the design, development, evaluation, and critical engagement with the technology and systems that increasingly surround us.

The course is designed to introduce the theory and practice of social studies and social care, to encourage learners to explore and develop their knowledge of social issues, psychology, community care and practice. This course also offers an opportunity to gain an insight into care provision and an understanding of client centred care.

This course enables you to study psychology and understand how disruptive technologies are fundamentally changing how we think, behave and live. You’ll delve into development and lifespan psychology, biological psychology and neuropsychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology and the psychology of individual difference, along with gaining a detailed understanding of the disruptive technologies that significantly reshaping our world. You’ll also gain practical skills in programming languages such as R and Python, data visualisation and storytelling.

The BSc in Psychology and Mathematics is the first course in Ireland to integrate these subjects, preparing students for a career combining the interpretation of human behaviour with high-level numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

By doing this course, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of each discipline alongside a broad critical perspective on contemporary society. You’ll delve into the different fields of psychology along with studying calculus, probability, computing, statistics and data analysis. Research literacy is also a core focus. The Introduction to Psychology program is a social science foundation course designed to explore human behavior, cognitive processes, and emotional dynamics. The core objective of the curriculum is to analyze how individuals think, feel, and act within social situations, focusing deeply on how a person is influenced by, and conversely influences, the world around them. Students are introduced to the fundamental theoretical frameworks of psychological research, human interaction, and behavioral analysis. This course serves as a critical academic gateway, equipping learners with the core scientific literacy, reflective thinking, and interpersonal insights necessary to embark on a professional path in human services or advanced academic research.

This four year honours degree in Psychology & Sociology provides you with a broad introduction to both disciplines in the first year, followed by coverage of the core areas of Psychology required for accreditation including: social, developmental, personality, biological and cognitive psychology as well as research methods and statistics. In your final year of study you will specialise in advanced areas of both Psychology and Sociology, in topics including multiculturalism, the media and applied psychology, while undertaking your own independent research project in an area of Psychology. You will also have an opportunity to undertake study abroad as well as work in an area relevant to psychology or sociology during the course of your studies.

The BSc (Hons) in Public Health & Health Promotion (formerly the BA (Hons) in Health Promotion) is a full-time, four year, honours degree course of study that can be chosen within the Health Sciences Common Entry Route. This four year, honours degree course (chosen via the Health Sciences Common Entry Route) is approved by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education, which allows graduates to register as Accredited Public Health and Health Promotion Practitioners with diverse career opportunities in health services, industry, communities, charitable and voluntary organisations, working to improve the health and wellbeing of populations and individuals. This course aims to give you practical skills to work with a wide range of population groups in a wide range of settings about a wide range of health related topics (e.g. mental health, physical activity, and the environment).

Public Health Nutrition involves the promotion of good health through nutrition and the primary prevention of nutrition-related illness in the population. It focuses on applying food and nutrition knowledge, policy and research to improving the nutritional health of the population and high-risk or vulnerable subgroups within the population.

This public health nutrition degree has an international perspective. It examines how global, national and local community programmes can be designed to improve the nutritional status of the population as a whole and those at particular risk.

Our BSc Public Health Sciences programme offers an integrated learning experience in an interdisciplinary setting. It provides training in the range of skills involved in keeping people healthy and preventing disease.
