As the businessperson of the construction world the Quantity Surveyor is a mix of an Accountant, a Solicitor and a Building Manager. Quantity Surveyors have expertise in cost planning and controlling of construction projects, estimating, procurement, tendering and contracts administrative processes. In Year 3, a four-month work placement provides an opportunity for practical learning for each student.

This programme prepares students for a career in the construction industry. It is designed for those who wish to work as quantity surveyors and economic advisors/managers in the construction industry or as building development co-ordinators and managers.

Students will gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the framework within which the construction industry operates, namely the technical, economic, legal, financial, managerial and administrative framework. They will also have gained a detailed knowledge and understanding of the specialised areas of cost and value management, tender documentation, procurement, construction administration and management.

They will have gained the ability to manage their own learning, in order that they may act in their employment in variable and unfamiliar contexts, and to do so with a clear understanding of the professional and ethical issues involved.

This course will appeal to mature students, school leavers, and applicants who possess a Level 5 award in a construction related skill area or equivalent. It is envisaged that students will be assisted in seeking employment on a full-time basis in a construction or engineering company and will attend lectures one day week. A particular feature of the programme will include a “Work Related” module that aims to provide students with the opportunity to formally record and reflect on their experience in the workplace and undertake a work-related project.

This four-year honours degree gives you a broad academic base on which to develop the clinical skills of radiation therapy. You will be able to analyse, evaluate and make clinical decisions and to initiate, participate in and encourage research in oncology and radiation therapy. There are both theoretical and clinical components to this degree, the emphasis being more on the theoretical component in the first two years and more on the clinical and research component in the last two years. The contact hours are high in this course and the subjects are taught through lectures, laboratory-based practical sessions, workshops, tutorials and clinical placement in the hospital setting.

Radiographers are responsible for producing high-quality images to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. While radiography is a caring profession, it’s also one that requires considerable technological and scientific expertise in both the production of images and the responsible delivery of ionising radiation. Our aim is to prepare graduate radiographers to meet the everyday challenges arising from ongoing advances in diagnostic imaging and healthcare.

This accelerated Radiography training course has been developed to allow graduates from a wide variety of academic backgrounds to study with us. The content of this programme has been developed with respect to national requirements for radiography training as published by CORU, the Health and Social Care Professions Regulator, and by the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy (IIRT). As such, the programme supports robust learning of the underpinning core sciences and facilitates knowledge and skills development across the spectrum of radiographic and imaging techniques.

The Recreation and Leisure Management course combines Health, Fitness, Sports and Exercise related modules with core Business modules. The course prepares students to work in the business, sports and leisure sector of the economy and provides them with the specialist skills and competencies needed in these industries.

The course consists of lectures, tutorials, practicals, site visits and work placement. The leisure industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. This has created a demand for personnel with specialist knowledge and skills in recreation and leisure. The course combines technical skills and competencies with a strong business base. It also offers students the opportunity of acquiring appropriate practical and managerial expertise, which will enable them to be effective managers in the recreation and leisure industry.

Bachelor of Business: This three-year qualification provides graduates with a business degree which furthers employment options into a wider array of fields. Work Placement: Students complete 12-14 weeks of work placement in year three of the course. This provides vital real-world experience for students in their chosen are of interest whilst also expanding their skill and knowledge base. Placements can include leisure centres, national governing bodies (e.g. FAI, GAA, IRFU), local sports partnerships and national organisations (e.g. Special Olympics, Paralympics Ireland). Opportunities for placements abroad are available.

The new BA (Honours) in Recruitment Practice is a three-year apprenticeship degree created in partnership with the Employment and Recruitment Federation (ERF). This recruitment apprenticeship programme is the first of its kind in Ireland and there are no other Level 8 degree programmes in recruitment or qualifications in recruitment that are on the National Framework of Qualifications.

This programme seeks to provide the appropriate education and training to allow successful graduates be registered with SOLAS as a Recruitment Executive apprentice. The programme will provide an alternative talent pipeline to the recruitment industry and offer a new career path for candidates. The course is open to mature students, school leavers, current recruiters and anyone looking for a career change.
