The BA in Communications is a three-year full-time programme which aims to give learners an introduction to communications platforms including photography, radio, journalism, and TV. The course involves both practical and academic projects and gives students the chance to work in real journalistic situations over the course of six semesters.

In this course, you’ll learn the knowledge and skills you need to work in community development and youth work. Subjects include sociology, psychology, community development, social policy, addiction, human rights, youth development and social entrepreneurship. The course has a strong element of experiential learning and involves fieldwork placements.

Students are faciliatated to explore current issues facing young people and those working in the field.

The BA in Community and Youth Work is a fully integrated programme of education and training in both community and youth work. Community work is concerned with the development and empowerment of communities through facilitating the active participation of people in addressing issues that affect them collectively.

This course is aimed at students who want to work as “Special Needs Assistants” in Primary Schools or to work in Social Care. The learner will gain knowledge, skills and the competence to work under supervision and independently in a range of educational and social settings. It can also be a stepping stone into our level 6 Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education course or into Degree programmes in Ireland.

The one year Level 5 award enables the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings. This enables them to enhance their role in provision to service users or to progress to further and or higher education and training.

This programme may be delivered through a blended (hybrid) learning model where learners will be required to attend on-site and online classes.

This course is suitable for both mature students and school leavers, who would like to work in the area of health and social care. This QQI Award provides the opportunity to pursue a fulfilling and rewarding career providing care and support to vulnerable people in the community. Students will acquire knowledge of health and social care theories and best practice. Students will also acquire practical experience on work placement. This could include a variety of settings such as resource centres, hostels for homeless, addiction services and youth projects.
