This one year course provides students with the opportunity to pursue further studies in Sports Injuries and Physical Therapy. The majority of students successfully completing this course progress onto Third Level Degree Programmes.

The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work independently and under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

This is a broad Sports and Leisure course that will enable students to demonstrate and apply a range of skills and knowledge in a variety of Sports and Recreation contexts. Students will acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to assist in the running of a Sports and Leisure Facility. 

Students will be provided with a basic understanding of Recreation theory and health concepts in a variety of subject areas.

This course focuses on the prevention, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activities. 

Students who undertake this one-year course in Pre- Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Students will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.

Practical classes will be timetabled on-site at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports Campus Ireland Campus.

This is a 2-year full-time diploma PLC course in Sport, Exercise, Health, Nutrition, Rehabilitation and Sports Psychology. It offers you the opportunity to study for a diploma in all areas of Sports Science. This course can act as a standalone qualification, or it can act as an access course where it can offer you an excellent opportunity to progress to one of our degree link courses. In some cases, advanced entry may be possible.

Pre-University Sports Science introduces students to the broad and expanding area of Sport and Exercise Science. It is important for prospective students to know that it is a theory-based course with some elements of practical, mainly preparing students for progression to university.
