This course covers surveying, construction law and regulations, the various technologies and building materials used in construction, and CAD (computer aided drawing).

As a student of Architectural Technology you will be encouraged to appreciate the concepts of architectural design and apply technical design principles in the development of a building to meet the project brief, the regulatory requirements for the building and the performance requirements for environmental and energy efficiency.

This programme is delivered through studio project work, which increases in technical complexity as the course progresses.

This course meets the needs of students who wish to develop a portfolio of valuable skills, for example: Architectural Drawing, CAD2D and 3D, Architectural Model Making and Design. These skills will equip students to find employment in the architectural, engineering and design sectors and/or also to progress to third level colleges. This fully funded Traineeship provides a variety of modules which relate to the design/ drawing/CAD/IT skills required within the construction sector. This course is suitable for learners who wish to further their career in this industry and will enable them to make an immediate contribution in the workplace.

The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Management course is based on a modular structure across two semesters and is available as a four year sandwich course (although students with the necessary industrial experience may be exempted from placement).

The course is also available in a part-time mode of study which involves students taking the course over five years (there is no placement year), and attending and completing all modules alongside the full-time students. The course leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honors in Architectural Technology and Management.

The DPP (Diploma in Professional Practice) is awarded on successful completion of an approved industrial placement year.

This course allows students to create a personal body of work through integrated art, craft, and design projects in an extensively equipped specialist studio. Students can explore and develop their unique creative interests across diverse disciplines like drawing, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, and painting. Upon successful completion, graduates are prepared to advance their studies by applying to Third Level education.

This course involves practical studio and location work. It enables students to develop drawing and observational skills and to explore creativity and personal expression through a broad range of creative processes including Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Painting and Drawing. All projects are broad enough to allow students to develop a portfolio suitable to their particular interests Fine Art, Design, Animation etc. Visits to various art gallerys throughout Ireland takes place during the college term to inform, develop and stimulate the students knowledge of the arts. Work experience takes place throughout the year. It involves two weeks of work placement, artists talks and weekly tutorials.
