This one year programme is designed for anyone interested in studying Science and who may want to progress to our QQI Level 5 Science Programmes. This introductory programme will allow you to explore science at a very practical level with lots of hands-on exploration of the sciences including work experience.

This practical ten week course introduces students to the processes involved in successful screen acting and developing confidence in front of the camera.

Participants will learn the differences between what is effective on stage versus the demands of the screen. As well as developing strategies for meeting the demands of screen acting, students will become more familiar with the filming process, acting for camera, the equipment and roles of the crew members including the terminology used.

This practical weekend workshop will give you an introduction to the stages of set design, from reading the script and creating a concept, to understanding what is required to design a set and create a model box.

You will learn how to gather imagery and ideas from sample text and bring those ideas to life. You will learn practical skills of model making and scale drawing and how to make the most of these in your own work.

This programme will allow you to develop your performance skills. You will also be able to develop your scholarly knowledge and enquiry around traditional Irish dance. However, and very importantly, you will be introduced to other performance practices and scholarly traditions in order to gain new insights into the worlds of music and dance, enhancing your creative potential. You will also study a number of vocationally focused modules aimed at allowing you to translate your artistic and scholarly creativity into a fulfilling career.

Irish Studies is an interdisciplinary programme that examines the variety and diversity of Irish history, society, cultural practice and the complex processes through which Ireland and Irish identities have been constructed.

It asks a series of provocative and stimulating questions about ideas of Ireland and Irishness, such as how can we understand the ways in which place, history, culture and society have shaped Ireland, past and present? How do processes of emigration and immigration impact on Irish culture, society and identity? What influence have identity categories such as gender, sexuality, ethnicity and class had on Irish culture, society and identities?

Stream 1: Irish Traditional Music Performance
This programme is suitable for all traditional musicians and singers who wish to develop their practical skills and musicianship. The course places an emphasis on performance, developing musical skills, musical instrument making and music technology, deepening students understanding of Irish traditional music. In second year, students have the opportunity to record, engineer and produce their own CD, using college facilities.

Stream 2: Traineeship in Instrument Making, Repair and Maintenance
The programme, in partnership with Na Piobairí Uilleann, also offers a traineeship in musical instrument making for students who wish to develop their skills in this area.  Instruments being made include the harp, mandolin/ mandola, the uilleann pipes, whistle and flute. Those students completing the traineeship will be facilitated in completing 14 weeks relevant work placement

Within the Modern Languages programme you study two modern European languages to degree level.  You can choose between French, German, Irish, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Apart from French and Irish all languages can be studied from both advanced and beginners level. Our programmes will give you the opportunity for full immersion into the languages and cultures that you study.

They will enable you to acquire a high level of language competence and fluency, combined with an in-depth understanding of the main cultures and societies in which these languages are spoken.

Tugtar ‘Nua-Ghaeilge’ ar an teanga ón mbliain 1200 go dtí an lá atá inniu ann. Sa chúrsa seo léitear litríocht ó gach cuid den tréimhse agus déantar staidéar ar fhorás na teanga lena linn. Déantar staidéar speisialta freisin ar Ghaeilge an lae inniu agus ar Ghaeilge na hAlban.

The programme provides students with the knowledge, skills and competencies in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity and is designed around five key strategic pillars; Cyber Security, Networking, Cloud Computing Technologies, Automation, and IT Management. In year 3, work placement begins in January.

An 11 week full-time programme to help students or career changers determine if a career in IT Support is for them.
