The overall aim of the course is to develop critically reflective, skilled and ethically aware practitioners with the capacity to build professional relationships, in partnership with vulnerable individuals and groups who experience marginalisation, disadvantage or special needs.

Social care is a practice based profession and an academic discipline. This degree will give you a recognised professional qualification in social care and prepare for you for the challenging and rewarding role of being a social care worker. This one-year course aims to deepen students knowledge of a wide range of social care areas from Mental Health Awareness to Disability Awareness. It will stimulate and challenge students to evaluate current trends in the sector. The course is a comprehensive and challenging course comprising both academic and practical modules.

This course will suit those who have a good knowledge of Social Care and are seeking to progress in their professional development. Students will get an understanding of the many roles of a Social Care Professional and models of social care provision.

This course introduces learners to Social Studies and Social Care work. The course provides an academic foundation along with the practical experience necessary for working in the area of Social Care. It is also ideal for those who wish to continue their studies by progressing to Level 6 or higher at Third Level.
