Studying UCD Actuarial & Financial Studies (BAFS) degree requires a multidisciplinary education in fields such as mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, risk management and professionalism. It takes a combination of strong analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behaviour to design and manage programmes that control risk and guarantee sufficient funds for the insurance and pension sectors. Actuarial Mathematics could be the perfect course for you. It’s accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK, meaning you may be exempt from some of the exams needed to qualify as an actuary in Ireland and the UK.

This broad-based level 7 degree programme emphasises the principles of construction and has a strong bias towards sustainable construction practices. It equips students with practical carpentry and joinery skills and an in-depth knowledge of sustainable building technologies and materials, including the retrofitting / refurbishment of existing dwellings to achieve a low carbon design and the construction of new low-energy buildings.

In this course, developed with the aid of industry practitioners, you'll exercise your creativity in areas such as creating advertisements, organising and running events, running a marketing campaign, creating radio and video ads, crafting a digital marketing strategy, etc.

The Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Masters of Engineering (M.E.) programmes are 4 years and 5 years in duration, respectively. Both include an eight month period of Cooperative Education spent in an appropriate industrial environment. The course provides a broad and practical programme of study, which gives you a good understanding of aircraft design, aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, control, materials, avionics, business and maintenance, and enables you to work in all sectors of the aerospace industry.

Topics covered are contemporary and relevant both nationally and internationally. The lectures are supplemented with relevant examples, case studies, projects, assignments, site visits, web tools, and interactive media.

The aim of the BB in Rural Enterprise and Agri-Business is to provide the learner with a business education that emphasises the importance of rural enterprise and agri business by developing an understanding of the theory, concepts and methods as well as the practical implementation of a range of skills and tools in these areas.

If you have a particular interest in the design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of agricultural machineries, then Agricultural Engineering is for you. Combining Agricultural Science and Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on power, this degree is designed to deliver high-quality engineers to the agricultural and agri-food industry.

Then, during your first year at UCD, you can choose your area of specialisation. Once you receive an offer on the Agricultural Science programme (DN250) you will be guaranteed a place in any of the 11 specialisations from second year.

Alternatively, if you know which of the 11 programmes you would like to specialise in, you can select this on your CAO application.
