Hotel & Hospitality Operations is a PLC Work-Based programme, and part of your study will include work placements with our Hotel and Hospitality partners, where you will work with experienced colleagues, and learn practical skills in the business context. This programme leads to a qualification that will be your passport to exciting careers in the world of hospitality operations and management, including options to travel and to progress to Higher Education, and to progress to Level 6 Supervisory Management at Carlow Institute.

The overarching aim of this programme is to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to successfully navigate the international arena in the disciplines of business and fashion management.

There will also be opportunities for relevant work experience. You will be expected to complete assignments and exams throughout the year. Course work will consist of a combination of onsite & online learning. Visits are also arranged to businesses and events during the year.

The Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Hotel Management further enhances learners' core competencies, strategic acumen, and in-depth understanding of hotel management principles.

This programme offers those currently employed or seeking employment in the hotel industry the opportunity to pursue a degree in hotel management while simultaneously working with their sponsoring employer. Each year the programme will comprise of the delivery of 60 credits of study through a blended learning approach. This programme will require students to spend two blocks of four weeks per annum at MTU Kerry North Campus’ state-of-the-art facilities in the Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Department. During this period a number of modules will be delivered. The remaining modules will be delivered online and through work-based learning.

An exit award, the Higher Certificate in Hotel Supervisory Management, is available after successful completion of year two.

This course aims to prepare students for employment in Human Resource (HR) departments in a wide variety of companies throughout Ireland. Most major companies have an HR department, and smaller companies usually have an employee whose job is to look after HR issues such as recruitment, staff training and development, labour law, the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees, and other general Industrial Relations issues.

The specialist HR related modules of this course provide a comprehensive introduction to the theories and applications of HR. This enables graduates to seek immediate employment in a range of HR departments. They will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competence to provide effective support in HR functions, such as recruitment, staff development, employee relations, and legal compliance.

The Human Health and Disease degree trains students for work in the field of biomedical research. It brings to life the fascinating connections between structure and function in the human body and explores the health and disease continuum in detail, including teaching on how medical therapies act to treat or even prevent disease.

As an example, understanding brain structure and biochemistry allows us to appreciate how neurons communicate and this in turn is helping biomedical researchers and clinicians to identify new and effective ways to treat and prevent diseases such as dementia.

Human Nutrition in ATU Sligo combines a number of scientific disciplines to provide a thorough understanding of the role of diet and nutrition in health and in the prevention of major diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis. The degree gives students a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between diet and health. Students learn how to apply this knowledge to individual and population health, as well as providing safe and nutritious food to the consumer.

This degree blends the basic sciences, food science, physiology, biochemistry, psychology, and specialist nutrition modules in a unique and interesting way that gives students the knowledge, skills and training required to work as a nutritional or food scientist.

As the programme progresses, students will select a specialised subject, including advanced nutrition, public health nutrition, sports & exercise nutrition and clinical nutrition.

Dietitians apply knowledge of food, nutrition and other disciplines such as biochemistry, physiology and social science to promote health, prevent disease and help to manage illness.

This course offers you an integrated training in the science of nutrition and dietetics, and its applications to human health and well-being both at the individual and community level.

This four-year, full-time programme is run jointly with TU Dublin. Students are registered in both institutions and have access to all services across the two institutions. The course provides an integrated education on the science of nutrition and practice of dietetics and their application to human health and well-being.

On successful completion, the degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics is awarded jointly by Trinity and TU Dublin. This programme is approved by CORU, the regulator for the health and social care professions in Ireland.

All graduates are eligible to proceed to register with the Dietitians Registration Board of CORU.
