This course will prepare students for entrance into Arts or European Studies programmes in Third Level institutions. It will also give students essential skills in two European languages: French and Spanish.

European Studies is a broad-ranging and integrated programme that offers students the chance to learn European languages, and also to study history and social sciences. The BA in European Studies offers you a core European Studies programme and a wide degree of choice between options in European History, Sociology, Politics, Economics or Marketing, Law and European Literature & Film, as well as the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of French, German, Irish/Gaeilge and Spanish languages and cultures.

European Studies is an exciting and challenging new UCD BA Humanities course for 2021, taught by some of Ireland’s leading academics. Transnational and interdisciplinary in perspective, the course is designed to inspire in-depth exploration of the rich and varied cultures and histories of Europe. This course will equip students with valued skills in research, communication and language.

In this four-year course, you’ll acquire practical and theoretical skills in all aspects of event management. You’ll become knowledgeable in areas such as event planning and design, marketing, sponsorship, staging and health and safety. You’ll be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and professional management skills you need.

This course will teach students the fundamentals of creating and managing an event, spanning from the beginning of planning to post-event analysis. Students will be involved in planning and organising events including working on client briefs, carrying out risk assessments, designing presentations and producing reports.

Students will study and learn to deal with complex and challenging topics including revenue management, public relations, marketing, technical and production operations.

This one year add-on Honours Degree follows on from the Degree in Event Management to give students an in-depth knowledge of the Event and Hospitality industry and generate superb employment opportunities. You will learn how to critically analyse and solve business problems, make decisions and generate long term business solutions.

This 3-year degree programme builds the fundamental knowledge and skills of students for a career in the events industry, by mixing event modules such as Event Risk Management, Event Project Management, Event Production & Design, Event Fundraising & Sponsorship and Event Operations Management, with a solid foundation of business focussed modules in areas of marketing, financial management and entrepreneurship.

The course also includes modules which encourage the personal development of students including, Leadership & Team Building, Research & Writing Skills and Volunteerism & Community Events. 

The Events industry is a rapidly growing sector in Ireland and abroad. Demand for professional event managers has increased as organisations seek to engage with their customers and other key stakeholders in more innovative ways.

This course offers students the opportunity to develop the necessary skills and appropriate knowledge to prepare for careers in this specialised sector of the marketing industry. It also concentrates on developing skills in public relations, organisation, planning, IT and time management.

This course also provides a foundation in business, internet and communication, as well as a background in public relations and marketing. Progression links to relevant degree courses are also an option open to successful graduates. In particular, on completion of this course, students may apply for advanced entry into Year Two of the BSc Event Management (Honours) degree course in TU Dublin , subject to interview.

The addition of new modules such as Health Promotion and Understanding Mental Health bring a new focus which captures the importance of maintaining an active and healthy body and mind. Learners also have the opportunity to obtain the Certificate in Exercise and Fitness provided by the National Council for Exercise and Fitness and accredited by the University of Limerick (subject to numbers).

This course qualifies you as a Fitness Professional with a strong portfolio of specialisms which include  Advanced Personal Training and Strength & Conditioning for Athletes and Teams. This four year honours degree in Exercise & Health Fitness Management provides you with a broad introduction to a career in the fitness industry. In the first year, you will study a curriculum to qualify as a Fitness Instructor/Gym Instructor.

This is an additional one year course designed to prepare students for a career in sports coaching, the sports and leisure industry or to provide a pathway to further study.
