This exciting programme will provide participants with the skills, knowledge and competencies required to provide a comprehensive guiding service for tourists visiting and travelling in Ireland. It will be relevant, practical and up-to-date with industry needs and follow best practice guidelines. The programme comprises two modules: Irish Tour Guiding and Irish Natural Heritage and Culture.

Leads to NFQ Level 6 QQI Special Purpose Award in Regional Tour Guiding (6S20233) plus option to achieve NFQ Level 6 QQI Award in Business (6M4985)

Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in Ireland. A recent report by the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) forecasts an additional 40,000 jobs in the tourism sector by 2021. In 2018, Tourism Ireland aims to grow overseas tourism revenue to €6 billion for the island of Ireland; and to grow visitor numbers to 10.8 million.

The purpose of this award (which was developed in collaboration with Fáilte Ireland) is to enable learners to acquire the relevant knowledge, skills and competencies to work effectively as a Tourist Guide in the greater Dublin Region and surrounding area. It also provides learners with the necessary business skills needed to start their own tour guiding business.

This programme covers all the technologies needed to produce energy and in particular electrical energy from renewable sources, to monitor and control energy systems and to connect them to the electricity grid. It is a mixture of theory and practical hands-on learning in all aspects of Renewable Energy Technology, electrical technology and automated monitoring and control systems.

As part of this Renewable and Engineering Technology (Year 2) course, students are given the opportunity to gain work experience in a relevant company for 2-3 days per week with class contact confined to 3 full-time days per week. There is a very high employment rate from this course.

A traineeship combines classroom-based learning in Monaghan Institute with work based learning within Ohk Energy Group or other renewable energy specialists, thus providing the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and competence within a supportive working environment.

This traineeship is tailored for practical individuals who thrive in outdoor working environments working as part of a dynamic and sustainable industry.

The aim of this course is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of renewable energy systems, their technologies, and their applications in the construction sector.

In this course, learners will explore various renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and geothermal systems, and learn how to incorporate them into construction processes to contribute to the construction of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building.

Renewable energy (RE) has seen rapid development in the last five years worldwide, especially in the area of wind turbines and small scale domestic systems. This Renewable Energy Technology and Control Systems (Year 1) course will enable students to develop an understanding of sustainability issues and renewable energy systems, to examine the role of microprocessor control in industry, and to design and build a control system which requires a number of inputs and outputs. Students will develop knowledge, skills and competence in areas such as solar photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal and domestic wind turbine system specification and control systems used in industry.

This full-time course provides intensive, hands-on training for the food and beverage sector, specifically for roles in bars, restaurants, and hotels. Taught in a real-life hospitality setting, the program focuses on mastering practical skills in barista work, bar service, and restaurant operations. Students also have the opportunity to enhance their professional experience through international work placements via the Erasmus+ program.

The Diploma in Restaurant Management is designed with industry partners (IHF, Restaurant Association and Fáilte Ireland) to provide a professional career route for two specific groups of individuals, staff building a career in the restaurant sector or career changers. The programme also seeks to attract existing staff working in the sector who wish to gain a qualification and begin a management career.

The aim of this programme is to provide learners with the knowledge, practical skills and competence necessary for a career in a modern ever-changing restaurant environment. This will be achieved by developing modern food and beverage skills in various different styles of food service.

This innovative new programme integrates theory with practice. It has been developed to provide a relevant professional qualification for those who wish to embark on a career in Restaurant Operations Management.
