Graduates with Finance, Economics and Big Data skills are in high demand here in Ireland and overseas. Postgraduate options include economics and finance. A highlight of the programme is the opportunity to undertake a three-to-six-month work experience placement as part of third year. Students can alternatively choose to study abroad on Erasmus. 

The aims of the degree are to produce graduates with developed mathematical, statistical and computing skills, and the ability to apply them to the quantitative analysis of industrial, commercial or financial business decisions. The BSc in Financial Mathematics and Economics (BSc in FME) programme is a four-year degree programme consisting of courses in mathematics, economics, statistics/probability, applied mathematics, accounting and business finance, and computer science. The programme’s aim is to equip students with expertise in quantitative subjects, with a particular focus on financial economics, actuarial mathematics and statistics.

The degree should appeal to people who enjoy mathematics and are interested in studying economics and other subjects in the financial area. (Please note that you do not have to study economics for the Leaving Certificate to be admitted to this course.)

The BA in Fine Art is designed for students who wish to work as cultural producers in the Fine Art sector. The course is focused primarily on acquiring the knowledge and skills that are needed to operate as a visual artist in a competitive environment, nationally and internationally.

There’s a strong emphasis on developing skills acquisition, creative intelligence and conceptual and critical thinking abilities, which are integrated with modules in Critical Theory and Professional Practice.

Our Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Fire Safety Engineering is a broad discipline covering a wide range of areas including fire prevention, detection, escape, suppression and control. The aim of this four year programme is to equip you with the engineering knowledge at a scientific and practical level to undertake both prescriptive and performance based fire design safety.

You will take core modules in mathematics, fire science, fluids, thermodynamics, building services, construction technology and structural design, along with general construction elements such as CAD, construction economics, land surveying and technical writing. You will then advance to fire safety subjects that take account of human behavior, fire and reliability modelling, fire structural design and fire engineering techniques.

First Year Studies at NCAD gives you the solid foundation that you require for entry into the variety of creative paths of study offered by the college. Our Food Business with Chinese Studies programme prepares graduates with the skills urgently required by the Irish food industry to succeed in the changing market landscape. With Brexit and the uncertainty surrounding the UK market, it is critical for the industry to expand exports to emerging markets, particularly China. This requires improved foreign language capability, which we provide through a combination of fundamental food science and food business management modules, and language, cultural, and target market-oriented courses. In third year, students study at Renmin University of China, taking Chinese language courses and other relevant modules, while experiencing the diverse culture and vibrant economic growth of China.
