Environmental Studies with Business combines the study of sustainability and environmental issues with business areas such as accounting and applied economics. Businesses are now addressing environmental issues that are impacting our planet so now is a great opportunity to respond positively and link environmental change to the business sector. Successful graduates have the opportunity to progress to BSc in Sustainability in UCD (DN240) and a wide range of business degrees.

The overall aim of the programme is to equip you with degree-level competence in the disciplines of Equine Science and a choice of professional studies in either Equitation* (the art or practice of horse riding or horsemanship) or Equine Business Management. Graduates of the programme contribute to the continued development of the horse industry through the application of their knowledge, skills and research in Science, Equitation and Business Management.

The Certificate and Diploma courses are suitable if you want to achieve academic qualifications before starting work in an area of horse-based or related industries. The programmes offer a broad base of learning in equine science, equitation and equine related business topics. This three stranded approach provides a strong platform for building a flexible career. In most semesters you will have a choice of module that allows you to align your studies with your personal interests and ambitions. Students who progress to the Diploma in Science (Equine Science) can choose to follow either a business or equitation specialist route. 

Delivered in partnership with Brennanstown Riding School, this course provides professional training for those seeking careers in the equine industry. The curriculum covers essential vocational subjects such as stable management, equine anatomy, and sport horse riding, alongside core workplace skills like customer service and animal welfare. Graduates are prepared for immediate employment or can progress to a Level 6 Horsemanship award through Teagasc or various PLC colleges.

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competence in a broad range of equine skills to work in a variety of equine sectors under supervision, or progress to further education or training.

In North Connaught College our students will be facilitated to explore Horsemanship with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may interest the learner in future programmes or employment.

The ESE Academy (E-Cubers) has partnered with the University of Limerick (UL) to deliver Ireland’s first Equipment Systems Engineering apprenticeship at level 9 (MEng).

This Apprenticeship programme provides experienced engineers with a comprehensive framework to manage the implementation of Industry 4.0 innovations in their employer’s equipment. This two-year MEng, in conjunction with vibrant Communities of Practice (CoP), provides an ideal framework for the apprentice to comprehensively and efficiently evaluate both disruptive and sustaining innovation solutions. After they have qualified as Equipment Systems Engineers (ESEs), learners will be able to remain engaged with the CoPs throughout their long and productive careers.

This course is designed to equip the students with essential business skills. It not only provides the learners with the administrative and IT competencies required in today’s workplace but also fosters the development of transferable skills that are highly valued by employers.

This course will prepare students for entrance into Arts or European Studies programmes in Third Level institutions. It will also give students essential skills in two European languages: French and Spanish.

European Studies is a broad-ranging and integrated programme that offers students the chance to learn European languages, and also to study history and social sciences. This programme encourages students to think about our continent in all its complexity, and to analyse Europe’s cultures, history, and politics.

European Studies in the University of Limerick is a broad and integrated world-class programme. It allows students an in-depth opportunity to study European languages and policy and equips them with highly sought-after digital and research skills. It is also the only European Studies programme in Ireland which includes Irish as one of its language options. The BA in European Studies offers you a core European Studies programme and a wide degree of choice between options in European History, Sociology, Politics, Economics or Marketing, Law and European Literature & Film, as well as the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of French, German, Irish/Gaeilge and Spanish languages and cultures.

European Studies is an exciting and challenging new UCD BA Humanities course for 2021, taught by some of Ireland’s leading academics. Transnational and interdisciplinary in perspective, the course is designed to inspire in-depth exploration of the rich and varied cultures and histories of Europe. This course will equip students with valued skills in research, communication and language.
