This is a four year Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship combines practical work with a registered employer and classroom learning, featuring an 11-week training block at DFEi during Phase 4 and a 10-week block during Phase 6. Applications are managed entirely through SOLAS, and the training equips you with the skills to build and install structural wood products like doors, floors, and roofs.

You will study the design of heating and cooling systems for buildings, electrical and energy supply and use, and water supply and disposal. You will also examine the legislations that affect the built environment and the need for a radical and sustainable approach to building services if the environmental impact of existing/new buildings is to be dramatically reduced.

Renewable energy systems are an increasing focus for the delivery of zero carbon energy and throughout the course you will explore the use and integration of these technologies.

Architectural Technology is an immersive, full-time course, which will prepare you for practice and requires attendance five days a week. This course integrates technical theory with practical application to equip students with real life problem solving and communication skills and a broad understanding of construction technology and detailing, building regulations, health and safety legislation and the theory and integration of environmental and sustainable design.

It incorporates a low energy technical design project and a research project which will equip them as they set off on their career as a professional architectural technologist.
