The BSc in Financial Mathematics and Economics (BSc in FME) programme is a four-year degree programme consisting of courses in mathematics, economics, statistics/probability, applied mathematics, accounting and business finance, and computer science. The programme’s aim is to equip students with expertise in quantitative subjects, with a particular focus on financial economics, actuarial mathematics and statistics.

The degree should appeal to people who enjoy mathematics and are interested in studying economics and other subjects in the financial area. (Please note that you do not have to study economics for the Leaving Certificate to be admitted to this course.)

Students on the Financial Risk Management degree will learn theories exploring market, credit and enterprise risk, whilst gaining expertise in the statistical software that is used to measure these risks.

There is an integrated placement year, which allows students to gain valuable practical experience working in a professional environment.

The BA in Fine Art is designed for students who wish to work as cultural producers in the Fine Art sector. The course is focused primarily on acquiring the knowledge and skills that are needed to operate as a visual artist in a competitive environment, nationally and internationally.

There’s a strong emphasis on developing skills acquisition, creative intelligence and conceptual and critical thinking abilities, which are integrated with modules in Critical Theory and Professional Practice.

The BTEC Fine Art course provides a dynamic and comprehensive program covering essential techniques in drawing, ceramics, 3D studies, printmaking, and photography. All departments in the School of Fine Art - Media, Painting, Fine Print , Sculpture and Applied Materials - help students to develop a highly individual way of seeing and interpreting, and of expressing themselves visually.  Emphasis is placed on visual awareness and artistic analysis, on acquiring skills in the use of both traditional and new materials and media.

This studio-based programme prepares students for the professional world of contemporary art; learning how to make, experiment, research and critique art. Students will explore and engage with: painting, drawing, sculpture, print, photography, performance, sound, video, and digital media in varied contexts. Students are encouraged to experiment with a wide range of media in order to develop their individual art practice.

This is a one-year, full-time programme that affords students the opportunity to further develop creativity, technical skills and artistic identity through studio work. Students may also further develop animation techniques.

The Fine Art Practice & Design course is aimed at students who have a strong interest in design, creativity and practical skills in art, craft and sculpture. Our course is designed to give you hands-on experience through practical demonstrations, workshops and studio practice sessions, so that you can design and create a wide range of unique craft, sculpture and fine art pieces. Throughout the course, you will learn practical skills such as ceramics, sculpture and fine art techniques, and our emphasis on drawing and design, painting, drawing, colour and light will ensure that you develop your artistic abilities.

This course is designed for those with a strong interest in design and learning about ceramics and craft skills. This hands-on course provides practical demonstrations from artist teachers, as well as guest artists. Students have the opportunity to design and create a wide range of unique ceramic, sculptural, and printed pieces, as well as upcycling and using sustainable materials.

This programme is designed for learners who wish to develop a focused, independent fine art practice with clear pathways to higher education and professional creative careers. The course places a strong emphasis on autonomous, studio-based learning, mirroring the expectations of third-level art colleges and professional practice environments.

This course aims to provide the training for candidates to provide STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting in accordance with Section. A-VI/1 of the STCW Code. On successful completion of the course, a trainee will be competent to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and of the ship and to use fire appliances correctly. The trainee will also have a knowledge of fire prevention.

This course is mandatory for a learner to complete a Second-Hand Limited or Second-Hand Full Certificate of Competency.

Our Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Fire Safety Engineering is a broad discipline covering a wide range of areas including fire prevention, detection, escape, suppression and control. The aim of this four year programme is to equip you with the engineering knowledge at a scientific and practical level to undertake both prescriptive and performance based fire design safety.

You will take core modules in mathematics, fire science, fluids, thermodynamics, building services, construction technology and structural design, along with general construction elements such as CAD, construction economics, land surveying and technical writing. You will then advance to fire safety subjects that take account of human behavior, fire and reliability modelling, fire structural design and fire engineering techniques.

This course aims to provide training for candidates in STCW Advanced Fire Fighting.

Seafarers designated to control fire-fighting operations on board a vessel shall complete advanced training in techniques for fighting fire, with particular emphasis on organisation, tactics and command.

Seafarers are required to demonstrate competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in table A-VI/3 of the STCW code.

First Year Studies at NCAD gives you the solid foundation that you require for entry into the variety of creative paths of study offered by the college. First Year Studies is a common entry course that leads our students to studying any one of the fourteen different studio specialisms available in NCAD

The School of Fine Art, Paint, Print, Sculpture , Media, Textile Art & Artefact and Ceramics & Glass ( Applied Hard Materials) ; and in the School of Design, Graphics, Illustration, Moving Image Design, Fashion Design, Textile Surface Design, Jewellery & Objects, Product Design and Interaction Design.

All these specialisms can also be studied as a Joint Honours Degree with Education or as a Studio specialism with Visual Culture.
