The QQI Level 5 Business Studies program at Dublin College Blackrock (formerly BFEI) is a versatile, one-year foundation course designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the corporate world. Situated in Blackrock village, this program is ideal for those with an entrepreneurial spirit who wish to explore the various facets of industry before specializing. By covering the core functional areas—including Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Management—the course equips students with a broad knowledge base suitable for immediate employment in diverse business environments. Additionally, it serves as a robust academic platform for students aiming to progress to a full Honours Degree in Business.

The BA (Hons) Business Studies programme provides each student with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of modern business studies subjects and establishes a firm foundation for the development of a career in the business professions.

The programme is structured in a way which provides each student with the opportunity to study for either a general or a specialist Honours degree in Business Studies. The programme offers students the choice of four options for the completion of their Honours Degree.

This part-time programme is designed for mature students, with work experience, who wish to return to education to complete a diploma or degree in Business Studies while continuing to work. Lecture attendance is once a month on Friday and Saturday from 9am-5pm.

Students on the Diploma and Bachelor of Business Studies attend the UCD Belfield Campus for six weekends over the course of the academic year. Our students travel from all over Ireland, and abroad, to attend campus lectures given by leading experts. The campus experience is considered a key component of the programme where our students can interact with their classmates, lecturers, and avail of the University’s facilities.

If you decide to take up a place on our programme you will be appointed a Learning Support Officer who will be the main point of contact for you throughout your studies.

After the first two years, successful participants will be awarded a Diploma in Business Studies (NFQ Level 7) and, after a further two years, a Bachelor of Business Studies Hons (NFQ Level 8).

The Advanced Certificate in Business is an one year full-time course, which will give you the business knowledge and skills to form the basis of a career in industry, commerce or the public service. You will gain an understanding of the functional areas of business and of the factors which influence business success.

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in the theory, principles and practices underpinning a range of business scenarios and to enable the learner to work independently or in a supervisory capacity in a variety of business contexts and or to progress to higher education and training.

The BA (Hons) in Business Studies Blended programme is delivered through a combination of online and classroom-based learning. The blended mode of delivery offers students a more flexible learning environment and provides an opportunity for those living outside the greater Dublin area to study in Griffith College.
