This course is designed to equip leaners with the specialist skills necessary for a career in the tourism industry. The aim of this programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to progress to a University Programme in the area of Veterinary Nursing/ Animal Science/ Science/ Agricultural Science. Students can also progress to Advanced Animal Science & Care at O Fiaich Institute of Further Education.

This one-year course in Construction and Carpentry equips students with a blend of technical knowledge and hands-on skills essential for the modern built environment. Focusing on high-demand areas like furniture design, manufacturing, and renewable energy, the program prepares learners for rewarding careers in both trade and management roles. 

Precision engineering is involved with the design, manufacturing and measurement of highly specified parts for the medical, aerospace, automotive, oil and gas exploration and related industry.

Students learn how to work effectively with both manual and CNC machines to produce parts from an initial design to a final product. Parts are designed using CAD systems to develop solutions to engineering problems and when completed the accuracy will measure specialised measurement equipment such as co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM).

The Preliminary Engineering course has been designed to meet the needs of a variety of students wishing to study Engineering at third level, specifically those who did not satisfy the entry requirements for direct entry to a degree course, and adult returnees to education.

The Preparation for Leaving Certificate with ESOL Programme is a Transition Year course which will allow learners to come back to education and prepare for either the Leaving Certificate or a Further Education and Training Course. As such, it’s a starting point for all other courses in Pearse College and beyond.

This one-year QQI Level 4 foundation course is designed for adults returning to education who wish to enter or progress within the healthcare sector. The curriculum focuses on building fundamental health-related skills and language proficiency, specifically addressing the unique challenges faced by learners in this domain.

This course empowers you with the "metacognitive" tools necessary to thrive in any higher education setting, focusing on critical thinking, time management, and effective research strategies. You will master the technical art of academic writing, learning how to construct well-argued assignments that adhere to professional formatting and referencing standards.

This one-year course is designed to prepare students for a career in the sports, coaching and fitness sectors, or provide a pathway to further study in Physical Educating teaching. Students will engage in a range of sports, both practically and academically. Students will also gain the social, communications and leadership skills to work with students in the teaching area, along with athletes and groups in the growing sports, coaching and fitness areas.

This programme is designed as a pathway into primary teaching that combines further education study with a clear transition into higher education.

Lero and CONFIRM Smart Manufacturing have partnered with the University of Limerick (UL) to deliver Ireland’s first qualification at level 10 (DEng) funded through the national apprenticeships programme: The Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng).

How a professional doctorate differs from a traditional doctorate
The traditional doctorate, the PDEng programme focuses on preparing candidates for an academic career and is thus focused on training people to rigorously address scientific problems which can result in a contribution to knowledge that can be published in the peer‐reviewed scientific literature.

Professional doctorates recognise the existence of research activities which can be described as professional practice. The context for this DEng programme is the practitioner workplace and the focus is on solving real‐world problems faced in the daily work‐place. Product Design & Technology is delivered in a design studio environment, cultivating a culture of creativity, peer learning and transdisciplinary exploration. Complementary modules are taught in parallel, on topics such as human factors, psychology, manufacturing, engineering, project management, and entrepreneurship.
