B.A. (Mod) in Computer Science, Linguistics and a Language. CSLL combines the study of Computer Science; a natural language, either Spanish, French or Irish; and Linguistics.

The computer science component of CSLL seeks to impart a mastery of the techniques and technologies that lie behind what you see on the screen of one of today's computers, giving you a full understanding the computer applications of today, and enabling you to participate in the development of the applications of the future.

Combining Computer Science with Economics will allow graduates to use computing tools to study economics and to apply economic theories to computational settings, such as to build virtual marketplaces.

Our long-running Computer Science and Business joint programme provides graduates with the knowledge and expertise needed to work in the technical field of Computer Science along with the business management skills required to understand the fundamentals of markets, organisations and business management.

A computer system engineer combines knowledge of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to develop, test, and evaluate software for personal computers and more. Students will gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of computer systems, embedded systems, systems programming and real-time systems, along with knowledge and understanding of modern computer architectures.

The primary focus of this course is on developing your technical and practical skills with computers and with the basics to allow you to work as part of a team in a support capacity in maintaining ICT infrastructure in an organisation. The fourth semester in year two provides students with the opportunity to get experience of a work placement and to put into practice what they have learned in the Institute.

This course is designed to introduce the learner to the fundamentals of installation, configuration and maintenance of computer systems and basic networks. It also facilitates progression in education including further and higher, education or training.

This full-time course is designed to give students the opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to implement and support PC systems and networks. During the course students will build PCs and troubleshoot hardware issues. They install, optimise and troubleshoot both the Windows and Linux Operating Systems, and setup Local Area Networks.

Course participants will learn about the importance of security within the IT industry while also learning the fundamentals of Software Development and Website Design.

Achieve a solid foundation in hardware maintenance, systems software, computer networking, programming and scripting, database management, virtualisation, website design and web server hosting.

These courses deliver a thorough grounding in Computer Systems and Networking, giving you key skills for either work or further study.

There are modules in understanding computer hardware, linking computers together into networks, basic computer languages and programming, storing and retrieving data, understanding web design and the various types of IT support

This course provides advanced training on computer systems and networking technology. Students with suitable qualifications can apply for this Level 6 award or progress from the Networking Technician level 5 course.

This course will equip learners with the skills required to network and manage the proliferation of “smart” devices that will increasingly transform modern society. The combination of modules studied enables the learner to develop a broad spectrum of skills, from maintenance of networks to software systems, preparing them for employment in the rapidly expanding sector. They gain an understanding of an organisation’s technology needs in order to develop a tailored communication network platform.

The overall aim of the programme is to equip the learner with the fundamentals to install, configure and maintain computer systems and basic networks under supervision leading to employment in a range of sectors. It also facilitates progression in education including to further and higher, education or training.
