The Cultural and Heritage Studies programme offers students a wonderful blend of exciting subjects along with an excellent range of organised cultural trips.

Throughout the year, students will participate in a broad range of interesting projects, field trips, cultural visits and guided tours e.g. Dublin Castle, National Museum, Kilmainham Gaol, Newgrange, Trinity College, National Library of Ireland, National Museum, Glasnevin Cemetery, etc. Course work will consist of a combination of onsite & online learning.

The Dublinia Cultural and Heritage programme, delivered in collaboration with the City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB,) is a QQI Level 5 Major award. The programme combines training and work experience over 11 months. There are nine certified modules including; History, Archaeology and Heritage. Participants benefit from familiarisation trips to other heritage sites around Ireland, work experience in Dublinia Heritage Centre, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and a site of the learners choice.

The programme is intensive and rewarding for the learner providing the practical experience and knowledge needed for employment in the Heritage and Tourism industry. On completion successful graduates have gained employment in the tourism industry and/or progressed to further studies.

The National Print Museum seeks to collect, document, preserve exhibit and make accessible the material evidence of the printing craft and foster associated skills of the craft in Ireland. It is supported by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB). It is also fully accredited under the Heritage Council’s Museum Standards Programme for Ireland.

The QQI Cultural and Heritage Studies Award is a long established Aontas award-winning programme at the National Print Museum which aims to assist people in developing the skills to seek employment in the Cultural and Heritage industry and/or progress to Further Education after the course. The programme combines theory with practical work experience offering participants the opportunity to work as tour guides within the National Print Museum and a further heritage site of choice for the work experience placement. Course participants benefit from weekly familiarisation trips to heritage sites, museums and galleries around the country. Further to this weekly workshops are provided in the traditional craft of Letterpress.

Cultural, Heritage and Tourism Venue Management is a PLC Work-Based programme, and part of your study will include work placements with our cultural and heritage partners, where you will work with experienced colleagues, and learn practical skills in the business context. This programme leads to a qualification that will be your passport to exciting careers in the world of tourism, cultural and heritage venue operations and management, including options to travel and to progress to Higher Education.

On successful completion of the QQI Level 5 award in Cultural and Heritage Studies applicants will have acquired the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of core disciplines in Irish cultural and heritage studies to enable them to work independently and under supervision in a range of cultural and heritage contexts.

If you are interested in working in a shop, an office or hotel reception desk, this course will help you develop the skills and self-confidence to take on that challenge. Customer Service, Computer Applications and Retail Sales modules have been chosen because they teach the skills valued by potential employers for these type of public-facing roles.

The programme provides a review of Customs Law on International Trade grounded in aspects of European Union Customs Law and Regulations that govern International Trade. The role, function, key challenges and interaction of global trade and customs policies are examined in the context of key influencers such as WTO, WCO, single market as well as the implications of Brexit.

This Level 5 Cyber Security with Software Development course provides an introduction to the various aspects of cyber security whose main focus is the identification and management of risks to information systems. This course provides a thorough introduction to coding, hardware and networking concepts so students can appreciate what cyber security involves.

Cyber security focus is on identifying the data, computing assets and business systems that are most at risk. Thus, developing an awareness of cyber risk management and appropriate legal & compliance steps that need to be taken by organisations.

This course aims to provide industry with graduates who are knowledgeable in cybersecurity processes, practices, implementation and assessment of both IT infrastructure and software, enabling secure and scalable solutions.

IT Security is the practice of safeguarding information from unauthorised access and modification. Cybercrime is illegal activity carried out with technology. With growing dependence on technology and increased interconnectivity between personal, business, government devices and critical infrastructure, the requirement for security in the IT ecosystem is amplified.

This course aims to provide industry with graduates who are knowledgeable in cybersecurity processes, practices, implementation and assessment of both IT infrastructure and software, enabling secure and scalable solutions.

The programme will provide a new talent pipeline for tech employers who have a need for tech practitioners in the field of Cybersecurity. It will provide cybersecurity apprentices with the theory and practical skills required to be employed as Cybersecurity specialists.

Our Bachelor of Science in Computing with Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics equips you with the skills, methods and techniques that apply in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. It’s an exciting field at the forefront of technology security. This three-year course positions you as an expert in this rapidly growing field of computing. The course covers Cybersecurity, which is concerned with protecting systems against breaches, to Digital Forensics which is about detecting intruders, and analysing any breaches that might occur to build a case for a prosecution. 

The FIT Cybersecurity Apprenticeship is the third in a series that have been developed by FIT and delivered in partnership with Education and Training Boards. The initial two in software development and network engineering are already up and running in Dublin and Cork and expanding rapidly.

Our Cybersecurity Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship was developed by Limerick for IT in partnership with the University of Limerick and UL@Work. Our industry consortia partners are integral to the success of this programme.

This Level 8 Executive Apprenticeship will equip you with in-demand practitioner skills and serves as a talent pipeline for industry. It is a three year work-based education programme which supports the development and knowledge base of cybersecurity practitioners in organisations. It provides a new and exciting career pathway if you are just starting out in industry or are already working there by fusing blended learning at the University of Limerick with real-world application and learning in the field.

You will learn how to develop systems using cognitive computing, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, computer forensics, data retrieval processes, and more. You will also be skilled at building security systems, analysing security breaches, and investigating and putting into practice crucial security measures.

Cybersecurity Practitioners are responsible for safeguarding the ever-growing amount of data collected and required by companies, monitoring networks and systems for intrusions, identifying security flaws and vulnerabilities, and recommending and implementing the appropriate tools and countermeasures.

This degree is designed to equip future leaders of the dairy industry with the scientific, technical and business skills needed to succeed in this exciting industry. The first two years provide a strong foundation in business, science, mathematics, and technology-related modules, followed by relevant applied sciences, business, and communication modules.

On successful completion of the course students are awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture. Students who successfully complete this course meet the training requirements for Stamp Duty Exemption and DAFM Schemes.

The Level 6 Advanced Certificate is the Teagasc recommended education pathway for a technician. The two-year pathway incorporates the Level 5 Certificate and the Level 6 Advanced Certificate. The initial application should be made to the Teagasc Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture course.
