This course involves practical studio and location work. It enables students to develop drawing and observational skills and to explore creativity and personal expression through a broad range of creative processes including Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Painting and Drawing. All projects are broad enough to allow students to develop a portfolio suitable to their particular interests Fine Art, Design, Animation etc. Visits to various art gallerys throughout Ireland takes place during the college term to inform, develop and stimulate the students knowledge of the arts. Work experience takes place throughout the year. It involves two weeks of work placement, artists talks and weekly tutorials.

This program at LCFE's Mulgrave Street Campus is a one-year, full-time NFQ Level 6 course tailored for learners with prior experience who wish to elevate their practical, technical, and creative skills. This is an intensive one-year course designed to provide experience in all the essential areas of art and design. If you want to prepare a portfolio for application to third level art courses or if you have an interest in art and would like to develop existing skills, the art and design portfolio course will provide you with the opportunity to do so.
