In this course, you’ll learn the knowledge and skills you need to work in community development and youth work. Subjects include sociology, psychology, community development, social policy, addiction, human rights, youth development and social entrepreneurship. The course has a strong element of experiential learning and involves fieldwork placements.

Students are faciliatated to explore current issues facing young people and those working in the field.

The BA in Community and Youth Work is a fully integrated programme of education and training in both community and youth work. Community work is concerned with the development and empowerment of communities through facilitating the active participation of people in addressing issues that affect them collectively.

This course is aimed at students who want to work as “Special Needs Assistants” in Primary Schools or to work in Social Care. The learner will gain knowledge, skills and the competence to work under supervision and independently in a range of educational and social settings. It can also be a stepping stone into our level 6 Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education course or into Degree programmes in Ireland.
