The BA Hons in Architecture is a studio-based, full-time course delivered over three academic years. There is an exit qualification of an Associated Bachelors (AB) after successful completion of two academic years, with a further one academic year for BA Hons completion.

The BA (Hons) in Architecture at Ulster engages in the complex and changing context of architecture, urbanism and landscape and the transformations taking place in society. Important aspects of this engagement are with the wider issues facing the profession and the provision of a creative context to investigate, challenge preconceptions, explore and fully engage the role of the architect in society.

In order to qualify and practice as an architect it is necessary to acquire a core group of skills that are necessary for a professional working life. In addition it is necessary for you to demonstrate the intellectual skills and the knowledge, judgement and understanding expected at bachelor degree level.

Students explore design in a studio environment, contextualised by courses in history/theory, technology/environment and professional practice. The course is modular in structure, allowing students to learn and develop their skills through an extensive range of topics

Architecture explores new ways of living, investigates new technologies and materials, and strives to ensure that new buildings, towns and landscapes are environmentally sustainable. It combines art, science and technology in the design and construction of buildings and their surroundings within a sociocultural context. Architects are engaged in all aspects and creating the built environment from feasibility studies, outline and detailed design, through planning, to construction and management.

This programme provides education and training for the practice of architecture, taught in a way that makes explicit an understanding of and sensitivity to historical, contextual and cultural influences on the practice of design in a global, national, and local context.

Architectural Technology bridges creative design and real-world construction. This course equips you with the technical skills needed to turn architectural concepts into buildable, sustainable solutions. You’ll develop expertise in digital design, CAD, construction technology, materials, and professional practice, while working on industry-focused projects.

During this course, explore your creativity and self-expression through workshops in drawing, colour, painting, printmaking, sculpture, video, digital media, time-based art, environmental and site-responsive work, performative arts and curation practices. Develop specialist skills which allows you to best express your interests, abilities and ambitions. These skills also have a wide range of applications

Students are given the opportunity to improve their skills and to widen their understanding and appreciation of art through professional guidance.

Students are encouraged to explore a variety of media and skills and to develop a vocabulary for evaluating their own work and the work of others. At the completion of this course you will have an extensive and varied portfolio of work.

This course is designed to prepare students for entry to Third Level Art Colleges both in Ireland and abroad. Emphasis is placed on research and development methodologies in both practical and academic subjects relevant to Art and Design practice. This approach facilitates the development of a balanced portfolio which acknowledges the students own individual ideas development.

This course allows students to create a personal body of work through integrated art, craft, and design projects in an extensively equipped specialist studio. Students can explore and develop their unique creative interests across diverse disciplines like drawing, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, and painting. Upon successful completion, graduates are prepared to advance their studies by applying to Third Level education.

This course involves practical studio and location work. It enables students to develop drawing and observational skills and to explore creativity and personal expression through a broad range of creative processes including Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Painting and Drawing. All projects are broad enough to allow students to develop a portfolio suitable to their particular interests Fine Art, Design, Animation etc. Visits to various art gallerys throughout Ireland takes place during the college term to inform, develop and stimulate the students knowledge of the arts. Work experience takes place throughout the year. It involves two weeks of work placement, artists talks and weekly tutorials.

If you aspire to a career in the Art and Design field, this course will support you to produce an exciting, competitive and creative art portfolio to help you progress to Art college. Students have a great track record for progressing to Higher Education at all the major Art colleges and Universities.

You will explore core practical skills including drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media which are essential skills to prepare you for art colleges. You will use your creative thinking, ideas, style and visual communication throughout the creation of your portfolio.

Practical projects and exhibitions include opportunities to work with professional artists, and to experience the professional world of art and design.

This programme aims to equip students with sufficient skills to allow them gain access to workshop training programmes/third level programmes.

It will also allow students the opportunity to prepare a portfolio of work. Students on this course may also have completed an Art and Sculpture (Foundation) course.

This programme offers a broad range of skills and development opportunities. Special attention is given to facilitate personal creativity. The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge skills and competence to work autonomously and independently in a fine art context or to progress to higher education and training.

This program at LCFE's Mulgrave Street Campus is a one-year, full-time NFQ Level 6 course tailored for learners with prior experience who wish to elevate their practical, technical, and creative skills. The curriculum focuses on developing the advanced vocational skills and theoretical knowledge required to compile an elite Advanced Portfolio.

This dynamic and highly student-centred course is unique to the Wexford Campus. Students are provided with the opportunity to gain creative skills, creative knowledge, aesthetic awareness and professional experiences in contemporary visual art. A forum for exchanging diverse opinions and ideas is provided through group critique, field trips, and a visiting artists programme.

The aim of this one year full time course is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge skills and competence to work autonomously and independently in a fine art context and/or to progress to higher education and training.

Learners have the opportunity to build on skills learned at Level 5 and produce a personal body of work, focusing on specific projects.

Applicants will demonstrate specialised knowledge across a range of fine art disciplines in 2 and 3 dimensions.
