This course provides a foundation for learners who wish to gain employment in the field of Computers and Gaming or who wish to continue their studies and progress to Higher Education. The course is supported by F.I.T. (FastTrack to Information Technology), who provide supports such as CV writing and Interview Skills workshops along with mock interviews.

Two years, part time for the full award. Students will obtain a QQI component certificate at the end of the first year.

This Level 5 Certificate in Software Development and Data Analytics gives students an excellent grounding in computer programming and software architecture. Students develop practical skills and can progress to our QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Software Development. This course provides a thorough introduction to coding, hardware and networking concepts so students can appreciate what data analytics involves.

The Certificate in Software Development and Data Analytics course also enables students to apply through the CAO directly to third level. This course has a high success rate in terms of students securing places in TU Dublin, NCI, Maynooth University, UCD and IADT.

Cloud computing is an exciting area of study where you will learn about cloud computing models e.g. IaaS and cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud). You will study cloud storage solutions and networking in the cloud and learn about cloud security challenges, data protection measures and compliance requirements associated with cloud services. Finally you will learn about developing and deploying applications in the cloud.

This course aims to provide students with the skills and training to enable them to pursue a career in the computer industry and in particular, in the areas of Computer Programming (Learning to Code) and Software Development with particular emphasis on ‘Cloud’ Computing. Information Technology is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the Irish Economy, with particular growth in the field of computer-based services and Software Development. Successful students will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Software Development. All students complete a two week work experience placement as part of their studies on this course.

A minimum of 8 modules must be completed for certification made up of mandatory and electives, see opposite list. Choice of modules is decided by CCFE and subject to annual staffing/college resources.

Our course in Software Development with Games Programming is designed to produce graduates with an in-depth knowledge of the essential aspects of Software Development and  the skills associated with Games Programming. The BSc in Software Systems Development is a three year ordinary degree course. In this degree programme students will learn how to design, develop, and maintain software applications such as interactive web sites, mobile apps, database applications, and business intelligence tools. Our students also have the option to choose and elective stream of modules in either business, languages or psychology. 

The programme is designed to equip you with the skillset required to work in an array of computing roles in industry. You will develop secure software with the most modern methods of software technology for all areas of application, and you will have the ability to analyse, select, and utilise appropriate emerging technologies for the development of a software solution.

You will be able to store, manage and mine data for businesses, and to develop systems to enable organisations to extract value from such data.

This course aims to provide students who have completed the Level 5 Computer Science/Computer Systems and Networks courses (or equivalent) with the opportunity to design, develop, secure and test software components for computer network systems. Building upon their knowledge students will learn the most up to date software and security technologies to prepare them for a career in this growing area.

This module will equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to evaluate soils and growing media with regard to their utilization in a horticultural context.

This programme has been designed to help enable participants to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be familiar with origins, characteristics and properties of soils and soil - less growing media, be capable of manipulating the properties of soil to support crop production, have practices of soil nutrition and cultivation and have safe working practices with agrichemicals.

The BA (Hons) in Sound Design aims to provide learners with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies in sound design, programming, and implementation, relevant to the audio-visual industry related to games and interactive media.

By balancing sound design and implementation skill development alongside teamwork and entrepreneurial skills, the BA (Hons) in Sound Design will also encourage students to develop skills in research, critical reflection, and communication. The programme is designed to develop creative and professional attitudes which will enable engagement and collaboration. The BA (Hons) in Sound Design ethos encourages learners to develop entrepreneurial skills, behaviours and attitudes.

This course focuses on the technical aspects of immersive sound design for film, specifically in post-production for film production and episodic narratives. You will gain proficiency in advanced spatial audio techniques, editing, mixing for various formats, including stereo and Dolby Atmos, as well the use of dialogue, background, foley, sound effects, and music.
