This course is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to enter employment at apprenticeship level or progress onto professional engineering programmes at various universities and Institutes of Technology. Engineers are the innovators and problem solvers of the modern era. From simple structures the complex, a door handle to a supercar an engineer has been involved from concept design to production. 

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to safely utilise a range of techniques and processes to solve engineering related challenges and/or to progress to further or higher education or training, to prepare for apprenticeship, to prepare for employment.

The course aims to educate and train students in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on the technical requirements of industry in Ireland. The course is a preparation for direct employment in an engineering industry. It will provide students with a solid foundation to study an engineering course at third level.

Students studying Mechanical Engineering have access to technical workshops, fitted with a variety of specialist equipment, including lathe, milling machine, cnc, mig, tig and arc welding.

This program offers a dynamic blend of practical and theoretical modules, specifically focusing on Electronics and Robotics. Designed as a robust foundation for the engineering sector, it prepares students for successful progression to third-level university degrees or entry into highly skilled apprenticeships, bridging the gap between classroom concepts and real-world technical application.

The aim of this course is to provide learners with a basic understanding of Mechanical Engineering. Students will gain practical skills to pursue a career in the Engineering industry and have an introduction to theory necessaryfor entry into Third Level education. Students will also have the opportunity to study QQI Level 5 Maths required for entry into Engineering courses at Third Level. In this course learners will through theory and practice gain experience in the following: Machine Processes, Bench Fitting, Precision Measurement, Computer Aided Design, 3D Printing & Electronics.

The course aims to develop skills, knowledge, and expertise essential to gaining an apprenticeship in a range of trades in the industry, as well as providing progression opportunities to those interested in studying engineering at third level.

This Engineering Technology Management programme was created to provide learners with an essential combination of engineering and management abilities that are critical skill sets required in Industry. Graduates will be crucial in designing, controlling and managing challenging projects and tasks such as innovative products, developing sustainable global systems, efficient processes, and developing entrepreneurial skills such as creating new business models to support high-value manufacturing settings. Engineering Technology Management graduates will develop the technical expertise of engineers combined with a comprehension of the business and industrial environment and the capacity to develop creative solutions. 

Engineering Technology Management was created for students with an essential combination of core engineering. Graduates will be crucial in managing, designing and controlling challenging projects and tasks such as innovative products, developing sustainable global systems, efficient processes, implementing Big Data and AI analytics and developing entrepreneurial skills such as creating new business models to support high-value manufacturing settings. Engineering Technology Management graduates will develop the technical expertise of engineers combined with a comprehension of the business and industrial environment and the capacity to develop creative solutions. 

Engineering with Management is concerned with the analysis, design, improvement, installation, and management of integrated systems of people, finance, materials and equipment.

Our graduates have the technical skills common to all excellent engineers, with this knowledge augmented by an understanding of the commercial and industrial environment and the ability to generate innovative solutions to the problems of the world.

Built around a core of significant authors writing in English from Elizabethan times to the end of the Twentieth Century, from Shakespeare to Seamus Heaney, we provide the opportunity for you to follow your own interests through a wide range of optional modules.

Two thirds of the course is made up these: you can, for example, take strands on creative and professional writing, women's writing and gender studies, and American literature; or select from modules on contemporary writing, modern drama, love poetry, film adaptation, or Beat culture, to name just a few. In your final year, you will be guided by a member of the teaching team and write a dissertation on a topic of your own choice.

This combination of one-third core study and two-thirds specialist optional modules will allow you to develop your own areas of expertise whilst still attaining a solid grounding in the history of English literature.

Students undertaking English explore literatures in English in the widest possible sense and work with some of the leading writers working in the UK and Ireland. From the earliest writings in Anglo-Saxon to contemporary Irish, British, and 'global' literatures, students study English in its historical, cultural, and material contexts.

The Bachelor of Arts in English and History programme offers you the attractive opportunity to obtain a DCU undergraduate degree through online learning, which is more open and flexible than if you registered for a full-time, or part-time, campus-based programme.

The English and History subject areas are each presented as a suite of six modules which cover different aspects of that subject, for example Land, Politics & Society in Independent Ireland in History or The Renaissance in Literature.

From the earliest writings in Anglo-Saxon to contemporary Irish, British, and ‘global’ literatures; from the origins of European cinema, via the French New Wave, to contemporary Hollywood and World Cinema, students study English and Film in their historical, cultural ideological circumstances and material manifestations. And modules on adaptation, visual culture and scriptwriting in both English and Film evidence the cross-pollination of these important cultural forms.

Students undertaking English and French explore Anglo- and Francophone literatures and language in the widest possible sense. From the earliest writings in Anglo-Saxon to contemporary Irish, British, French and postcolonial literatures, students study English and French texts in their historical, cultural and ideological circumstances and material manifestations.

Language modules in English and French explore language structure and function; the day-to-day use of the languages, including in the media; and the major influences that have shaped both linguistic traditions.

Students undertaking English and History explore literature, language and history in the widest possible sense. From the earliest writings in Anglo-Saxon to contemporary Irish, British, and ‘global’ literatures; from the origins of ancient Greece and Rome to modern Irish, European, American and Chinese history, students study English in its linguistic, historical and ideological circumstances and in History can choose modules that focus on gender, social and cultural history, colonial history, politics, religious and economic change.

The B.A. (Honours) in English and History is a 4 Year Level 8 Programme. It offers students the opportunity to read the greatest works of literature in English alongside the most important and influential events in Irish, European and world history.

Students on this programme develop a deep knowledge of literature in English and history, and more generally, advanced understandings of human society and culture at the local, regional and global level.

The structure of the programme gives students a solid foundation in both English literature and History in Years 1 and 2, before allowing them to specialise in either English or History, or to keep a balance between the subjects in Years 3 and 4.

From the earliest writings in Anglo-Saxon to contemporary Irish, British, and ‘global’ literatures, students study English in its historical, linguistic, cultural, material and ideological circumstances.

In Philosophy students can study some of the key thinkers in the history of philosophy, from Plato and Aristotle to Descartes and Marx. Students also hone their skills in reasoning and argumentation by studying formal logic and critical thinking.
