Are you a mature student wanting to change career or progress to study at degree level? This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and competences to create interiors in line with client specifications including presentation drawings, materials specification, lighting, furniture proposals and construction detailing.

Learners who successfully complete Year 2 will be awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Interior Design (6M5127).

Interior Architecture and Design is a profession that explores new ways to create inspiring interior environments within the built environment, promoting sustainability through creative re-use of space. Whether it’s developing an existing space or creating a new one, interior architects design comfortable homes, functional workspace and inspirational public spaces that consider architectural forms, environmental impacts, and psychological and cognitive components of the space. Our students develop their designs and hone their skills under the guidance of experienced architects and interior designers.

Interior Architecture and Design is all about manipulating and forming an internal space, whether it be an existing or new building. Our Interior Architecture and Design programme focuses an environmentally conscious approach to the re-use, re-imagination and innovative re-invention of the existing built environment with a strong focus on sculpting interior space. Our graduates are skilled in responding creatively to both the Interior Architectural aspects of place, heritage and building as well as interpretation of client’s identity and design needs.    

This course is all about the art or process of designing the interior decoration of a room or building, and how we experience spaces and the objects in them. It’s a powerful, essential part of our daily lives that affects how we live, work and play. Exciting recreational environments, unique domestic spaces, functional workplaces, inspiring retail spaces, that’s interior design at work.

This course provides students with a creative and exciting programme of study required for a career in interior design. Graduates from this programme will be qualified and professionally suited to pursue careers in related fields including residential and commercial renovations, office and commercial fit-outs, retail branding and facade design, design for the hotel, leisure and tourism industries, and sustainable design.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in Interior Design , progressing onto a Degree or would simply like to learn more about the creative process and skills involved in Interior design then this is the perfect programme for you. This course will introduce you to all the essential elements of designing beautiful, functional spaces. You’ll learn to refine your talents and transform a house into a home. Develop key drawing, design and digital skills over the course of this year. The course is designed to equip you with the necessary training and skills to create stylish, comfortable, and on-trend interiors.

This studio-based programme consists of modules that are primarily assessed through design projects, coursework and assignments.

Programme content is concerned with the study of interiors through analysis, research and intervention. Through understanding the needs of the client, respecting the existing situation, and researching the specialised area, it allows the student to respond with relevant, innovative and creative solutions.

The programme uses the design project as the central vehicle for learning and aims to stimulate and provoke imaginative responses to the reuse of interior spaces. Projects address domestic, commercial, hospitality, community, social and user-specific interior briefs.

The BA (Hons) in Interior Design is a 4-year course. It has a common first semester, after which students also have the opportunity to switch to another design programme if they wish (subject to available places).

Topics on the programme include Photography, Digital Media, Design History & Theory, Creative Problem Solving, Business & Entrepreneurial skills and an Ethical and Sustainable Design ethos. Interior Design Students will learn about the design of interior spaces, 3D model making, building regulations, ergonomics and human centred design, textile and surface design, interior design - surfaces, materials and finishes, interior design - integrated interior design project, and building information modelling.

The programme focuses on the international aspects of business, especially the challenges of operating in the dynamic global environment. This is achieved by combining a mix of theory, practice and work experience. Lectures are interactive environments where students are encouraged to exchange ideas and opinions. There is a strong emphasis on developing the student’s personal skills such as public speaking and debating.

The four year programme is awarded under the institution’s American accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The degree consists of general education modules in year one. In years two, three and four the degree focuses on international business. Like all of the institution’s degrees, there is a strong emphasis on a mix of theory, practice and work experience. Lectures are interactive environments where students are encouraged to exchange ideas and opinions. There is a strong emphasis on developing the student’s personal skills such as public speaking and debating. This is supported by the culturally diverse learning environment at the institution with a student body drawn from over thirty countries. On completion of the fourth year students gain invaluable work experience by undertake an eight-week internship in a multinational firm.

Students have a wide range of opportunities open to them when they complete their degree. Graduates can enter the college’s Master of Business in International Business or the MBA in International Business or alternatively enter master’s, doctoral or professional studies in other institutions.

International Business offers students a chance to learn how organisations of all sizes internationalise their operations to exploit opportunities in the global market, while also developing key skills for lifelong learning, including how to analyse and think critically about solving business problems in an international environment.

The people, cultural, operational, and marketing insights provided by studying International Business are critical to understanding the process of internationalising and then managing diverse teams and responding to a range of international customers.

The BA in International Business will provide you with a distinctive and challenging undergraduate experience. The programme is structured around a broad and flexible curriculum with subject choices that will help you to understand how business decisions are undertaken in a globalised world shaped by political, social and legal issues.

Under the ‘normal’ pathway, students spend years 1, 2 and 4 in UL. International study and work placements in Year 3 are a core part of the programme. This international experience will allow you to attend university in Europe, the US, Latin America, Africa, Asia or Australia.

The BA (Hons) International Business is a four-year programme that prepares students to live and work in an international and multicultural environment. The course provides a broad business education as well as building the knowledge, skills and sensitivities to effectively work in our multicultural world.

This programme will enable you to develop your academic, intellectual and personal development skills and knowledge and will prepare you for work as professionals who will develop, lead and sustain business organisations on a national and international basis.

It will enable you to develop the knowledge and interpersonal communication skills you will need to thrive as a professional in international business.

Our BSc International Business with Languages programme combines comprehensive business education with the study of a language and culture – including a placement abroad. This exciting new four-year programme will provide you with key insights into international business management and contemporary issues in the global economy.

Graduates of this course will be prepared for a career in the ever-evolving international business landscape, with the opportunity to learn another language. The course will cover modules that will prepare graduates for work in business, sales support, project management, IT systems and support. Students can also study abroad or complete a work placement during their third year of study.

An essential challenge for businesses in Ireland is how they can connect the capabilities of our workforce to contribute to solutions for people who are largely in markets outside Ireland, across the EU and the wider global community.
