This course is designed for people who want to attain the standards of proficiency for social care workers as defined by CORU. The learner will engage with 18 modules that explore social care practice and how it applies in various social care settings. Students will complete over 800 hours of supervised practice placement, in a social care setting.

Throughout this honours degree, students develop their critical thinking skills, have a greater understanding of human interaction and how to respond professionally and informally to the needs of people who use support services.

Professional practice placement is integral to this programme, where students complete two 13-week blocks in professional social care practice settings.

Social studies examines  the past and current behaviour of individuals and societies. The overall aim of the course is to develop critically reflective, skilled and ethically aware practitioners with the capacity to build professional relationships, in partnership with vulnerable individuals and groups who experience marginalisation, disadvantage or special needs.

Social care is a practice based profession and an academic discipline. This degree will give you a recognised professional qualification in social care and prepare for you for the challenging and rewarding role of being a social care worker. Our programme is a combination of academic study and assessed practice learning opportunities. We use a variety of innovative teaching methods to support students to acquire the knowledge, skills and values required to practice as a Social Care Worker.

Social Care Practice is a dynamic and continuously developing field that is now a professionally regulated career under CORU, along with other health and social care professions. Throughout this honours degree, students develop their critical thinking skills, have a greater understanding of human interaction and how to respond in a professional and informed way to the needs of people who use support services.

This one-year Advanced Certificate (Level 6) is designed to deepen expertise in critical social care areas, including Mental Health and Disability Awareness. The program challenges students to critically evaluate contemporary trends and models of social care provision through a rigorous blend of academic and practical modules. Students explore the diverse roles of a Social Care Professional, focusing on specialized intervention strategies and the professional development necessary to support vulnerable populations effectively.

This course introduces learners to Social Studies and Social Care work. The course provides an academic foundation along with the practical experience necessary for working in the area of Social Care. It is also ideal for those who wish to continue their studies by progressing to Level 6 or higher at Third Level.

Two years, part-time for the full award. Students will receive a QQI component certificate at the end of the first year.

Studying on the Certificate in Social Citizenship at University College Cork offers students a stimulating environment to develop the skills they need to play an active role in shaping their own futures. The Course will teach learners the fundamental skills in Social and Digital Media, as well as web design and Entrepreneurial skills. It will be underpinned by very practical applications including Marketing and Public Relations. Students will study up to date content in topical areas such as marketing research, marketing planning, promotional methods, social media marketing, search engine optimization, digital advertising, and effective public relations. Students will be eligible to apply for progression through the CAO to various Business and Marketing courses including TU Dublin, IADT and NU Maynooth.

This course is designed for aspiring creators looking to transform their passion for photography and video into a professional brand. The curriculum focuses on monetization and digital marketing across major platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, teaching students how to build a follower base, secure sponsorships, and produce high-quality short-form video content. Graduates are equipped to enter the workforce directly or progress to further studies, such as the Media Production HND at Coláiste Dhúlaigh or various university degrees via the CAO.

The aim of this course is enable learners to enhance the sales and marketing approach of a business by using social media for digital sales and marketing.  The course focuses on:
