This programme is designed to provide Civil Engineering graduates to the construction and civil engineering industry and provides many transferable skills. The areas of speciality include Civil Engineering, Construction, Geotechnical Engineering, Highway Engineering, Public Health Engineering and Structural Engineering.

Graduates are equipped to undertake challenging and responsible activities on site, in the laboratory or the design office. During the programme, there are opportunities for students to participate in site visits, organised by the programme team. 

Civil Engineering is a dynamic industry, which is continuously evolving and changing. Civil Engineering is about creating, improving and protecting the environment in which we live. This programme is a blend of formal lectures, relevant practical classes to enhance understanding of topics and projects to apply the information learnt to typical Civil Engineering applications. The early part of the programme develops an understanding of science and technology which are the underlying principles of engineering. A significant number of practical classes, projects and labs ensure that students get to apply what they learn in lectures.  

Civil Engineering encompasses all aspects of infrastructure development and is used to improve and protect the environment that we live in. It involves the planning, design and construction of facilities that we require for everyday life such as roads, tunnels, bridges, buildings, offshore oil-platforms, water supply systems, wastewater treatment systems, dams and sustainable energy schemes such as hydroelectric stations and wind farms to name but a few. This programme is a blend of formal lectures, relevant practical classes to enhance understanding of topics and projects to apply the information learnt to typical Civil Engineering applications. 

The programme is designed in partnership with industry and uniquely merges civil engineering with management skills. It provides graduates with the knowledge, skills and techniques used in civil engineering management. The programme is a four year sandwich: two years full-time study, one year of practical work experience (or equivalent) and a final year of full-time study.

Graduates will be able to manage the construction and maintenance of infrastructural developments. Such work would include bridges, marine works, tunnels, motorways, railways, airfields and environmental projects including water and waste water systems, pipelines, waste management and residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Fields of study include structures, foundations, water engineering and project management. You’ll be tackling some of the biggest challenges of the modern world, such as achieving sustainable living in an increasingly urbanised society.

The programme produces engineering graduates equipped for professional roles in industry, the professions and public service. It meets the requirements of the Engineering Council's UK-SPEC for BEng degrees and the QAA Engineering Benchmark Statement as part of the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer status.

Participants gain practical expertise in groundworks, precision kerb laying, and trenching, specifically tailored for broadband network deployment. With a heavy emphasis on site safety, utility detection, and industry-standard restoration procedures, the course ensures graduates are fully prepared to meet the high-demand technical and safety requirements of modern utility installation teams.

A 2 year course in classical hand-drawn and computer animation, including character animation, 3d modelling, animating for Feature, TV or Games. This course gives budding artists the chance to express themselves artistically through the medium of animation, both classical (hand-drawn) and computer generated. This dynamic course provides the skills to take individual and group projects from conception to completion. The course aims to enable the student to develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques employed by the professional animator and to acquire the requisite skills for entry into feature, TV or computer game animation.

All texts are studied in translation and no knowledge of Greek or Latin is required, but there are opportunities to study the languages at an introductory level.

History of Art and Architecture

History of Art and Architecture is about the study of images, objects and buildings. It is unique in developing high levels of visual literacy applicable to a range of career pathways. It explores why works of art look the way they do and seeks to discover what they say about the societies that created them. It develops skills in visual analysis, critical assessment, and communication.

The study of Classical Languages is concerned with the language, literature and thought of either Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome. You will choose to study either Greek or Latin. Through the reading of literature in the original language and the examination of key aspects of ancient history, you will develop a thorough knowledge of the classical world and a critical approach to textual and material culture.

Students combine this subject with their choice of French or German.

Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology (CLAHA) is an integrated degree programme that allows you to study the history, literature, art, archaeology, culture and thought of the ancient world in conjunction with one or both of the ancient languages.

You will study Classics, Art History and Archaeology in great detail. This is a one year specialist course training students to work as Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) in Pre school, Primary and Secondary School Classrooms. Primary and Secondary Schools as well as specialist schools employ Special Needs Assistants to work in a variety of educational settings.

If you have a vocation to assist pre school,primary or secondary students and enjoy school life, this course is very fulfilling. You should be mature, hardworking and organised. You will be responsible for securing an appropriate off site work placement.

The aim of this programme is to allow students to gain the required qualification, skills and competencies to enter the healthcare work force as a Clinical Measurement Physiologist. These healthcare professionals perform diagnostics tests for patients, reporting and acting on the outcomes and being part of the interdisciplinary team treating patients. This degree was developed in collaboration with the professional body for Clinical Measurement Physiologists, the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiology.

The ability to speak and write, to listen and learn, to be understood — abilities that are fundamental to human communication and interaction — can be impaired by a wide range of conditions, from stroke to cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, developmental delays, and autism. Speech and Language Therapists work with people of all ages and assess, diagnose and treat individuals with a variety of communication and swallowing disorders. 

The aim of this minor Award is to provide participants with a basis on which to develop their therapeutic understanding of the theoretical and clinical considerations of substance use. The objectives of the module include increasing knowledge of Substance Use issues to include pharmacology, aetiology, and interventions appropriate to this clinical cohort.
