This is a full-time, one year course. The aim of this course is to introduce students to the academic and practical implications of following a career in Nursing. It is designed to develop communication, intellectual, practical and caring skills.

The Nursing Studies program is a comprehensive foundation course designed to equip students with both the academic requirements and personal qualities essential for a successful career in healthcare. The curriculum blends rigorous classroom modules with a mandatory work placement, which students arrange in a healthcare setting of their choice to gain vital hands-on experience. By providing a deep overview of key nursing topics and clinical skills, the course prepares students to work safely under supervision in diverse care environments. Additionally, it offers unique insights into the modern healthcare sector while actively preparing learners for third-level academic studies, university interviews, and rapid career progression.

Learners are offered a practical and theoretical introduction to a career in nursing. Learners complete work placement in a clinical/ward environment. Training is completed using simulation equipment to help learners understand how to care for patients. The programme gives learners a realistic insight into what the world of nursing entails and enhances learner's opportunities to get a place on a third-level college course. Many higher education colleges have reserved places on their courses for graduates of QQI Nursing Studies.

The course is structured to provide a foundation in theory and practice of health science for learners with the potential for academic progression routes in Nursing and related Health Studies in Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland and the UK. The Nursing Studies course combines a range of modules that provide the learners with realistic experience of the academic demands of studying nursing/health related courses at third level.

This course is designed to enhance students awareness and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the professional nurse. It is also ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in the nursing profession. Students will study core areas of nursing and are enabled to put theory into practice using the college's fully upgraded nursing suites and through participation in work experience. This course is delivered by teachers including specialist nurses who bring a real depth of experience to their teaching.  The success rates from this course are very high for progression to higher education in both Ireland and the UK.

The aim of this one year full time course is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings and / or to progress to further or higher education and training.

This one-year Nursing Studies course will introduce you to practical experience in healthcare clinical settings which, combined with an insight into theories relating to the nursing profession, will enable them to deliver high standards of care. This course is designed to combine aspects of nursing theory and practical aspects of clinical nursing experience. 

The purpose of this programme is to prepare the student for all aspects of nursing. The student is introduced to a wide variety of modules with a work placement element to the programme, which gives the student the opportunity and the experience of working in a setting of their choice under supervision.

The programme also prepares the students for progression to third level with UCAS and CAO preparation.

This is a one-year course for students wishing to train as Nurses both here in Ireland and in the UK. On completion of this course students can apply to Nursing Degree courses through the QQI entry system. It provides a solid foundation in Nursing theory and practice and allows students to accurately assess their suitability for a career in nursing. Applications are also invited from mature students wishing to pursue a career in nursing.

This course is designed to prepare students to progress to 3rd Level Institutions to study Nursing, Midwifery, Social Care or other subjects in the healthcare field. The course also prepares students who wish to work in healthcare in a variety of settings such as nursing homes, community settings and hospitals. There are practical and academic components in this course including skills demonstrations, assignments, exams and project work.

This course provides essential elements of knowledge, competence and skill for academic progression or employment within the healthcare setting. The course provides the foundation skills and entry requirements to Degree Progammes in Ireland and the UK. The course encourages an appreciation of the work involved in caring for all age groups, and emphasises the importance of interpersonal communication.
