The B.Sc. (Honours) in Game Art & Design targets the creative needs of the games industry by producing graduates who can develop high quality game content, design game levels and work with industry leading content creation tools, scripting languages and game engines.

The programme is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to work in the games industry as games artists, content creators and designers. The programme embodies the multidisciplinary nature of the games sector and seeks to address the demand for game art and design skills both nationally and internationally.

In addition to developing students’ artistic skills, students of the programme acquire the skills to produce compelling game content for various gaming applications and platforms. The graduates of this programme possess a well-developed understanding of both the creative and technical processes involved in producing game content.

This four-year course focuses on the creation and study of games. It covers the design and development of digital and analogue games, including PC, mobile, Web, card and board games.

Topics include in-depth analysis of games, practical hands-on development experience and theoretical game studies. Along the way, you’ll also learn important industry skills such as programming, game design, digital media asset creation, project management and game publishing.

This course has been designed with the unique needs of the contemporary games industry in mind. It offers a creative pathway, enabling and enhancing the production and practice of game design and development. It also provides opportunities for an exciting and sustainable career both at home in Ireland’s dynamic and rapidly-evolving Creative Industries and internationally.

The aim of this course is to provide students with an excellent foundation in computer games design. Students will gain the necessary knowledge and skills that are fundamental to the craft of games design and production. All aspects of games development from concept to storyboard creation and design through to the development of functioning 2D and 3D games are covered.

Students will gain a solid foundation in fundamental computing knowledge and the technical and creative skills of games development in topics such as; Programming, 3D Modelling and Animation, Games Design, Game Engine Development, 2D and 3D Character Animation and UX Design. Students will produce numerous portfolio pieces during the course, with the final year offering specialist options and a team project that involves the development of a substantial computer game.

The Games Development course is designed to encourage the development of key games development skills especially in the areas of games software programming, design, graphics and project management. Learners will learn how to use and implement popular game engines like Unity 3D in the creation of their own games software titles while studying core development languages. Additionally, learners will create graphics, animations, sound and look at their implementation possibilities for modern technologies such as the web, mobile devices and gaming consoles. Learners will get hands on experience of exciting technologies such as motion capture, AR and VR.

Successful learners will have an extensive knowledge of games software development as well as an extensive portfolio of work including individual games.

This degree uses a software engineering approach to games development, combining study of the technical aspects of games programming, including virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence, with the principles of project management, quality assurance and organisational management.  While focused on developing games software, we also provide a general grounding in software engineering to equip students with the breadth of skills to work in any aspect of the information technology industry.

A cutting edge games development computer laboratory and peripheral hardware are just some of the features on this programme which allow students to flex their creativity and gain first-hand experience. 

This new dynamic course aims to provide students with the knowledge, creative skills and technological competences necessary for a career in the food and/or culinary sector. The course is designed to reinforce and enhance the student’s knowledge of scientific principles, processes and technologies through the study of food. will focus on a new food product development, entrepreneurship, and introduction to sensory and consumer science. The final years of study will focus on the acquisition of scientific skills in food science, sensory and flavor science.

Three year degree combining scientific principles with the theoretical and practical aspects of food. Graduates will develop the skills necessary for an exciting career in food research and development and/or the culinary sector. The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences aims to provide the student with the knowledge, creative skills and technological competences necessary for a career in the food and/or culinary sector. The course is designed to reinforce and enhance the student’s knowledge of scientific principles, processes and technologies through the study of food.
