BSc Hons Economics focuses on the aspects of economics that relate to the practical application of Economics today, in finance, policy making, management, organisational behaviour and consumer decisions.

Build strong foundations
This degree provides a solid base to all three disciplines and you will study foundational topics such as introductions to micro and macroeconomics, political science and constitutional law. You don’t need to have done any of these before. History

The four-year programme allows students to lay firm foundations in the first two years, with wide-ranging modules on medieval and modern history, Irish, European, American, environmental and global history, as well as on historical methods and approaches. The final two years of the programme allow students the chance to study several specialist modules in-depth and to undertake independent research on a subject of their own choice.

Learners will gain the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to address the twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss at a local, national, and global level.

This four-year (Level 8) honours degree is accredited by the Teaching Council and will enable graduates to teach both Art and Design and Communication Graphics in Irish post-primary schools. This unique initial teacher education programme is designed to ensure that students attain the skills, knowledge and practice to become excellent teachers of both Art and Design and Communication Graphics. 

During the programme, students will develop their creativity and learn and apply emerging digital technologies to enable them to master these subjects. Projects focused on design, art techniques, CAD and graphics ensures that students can gradually gain the confidence, skills and competence to independently teach these subject to the highest level and standards.

This is a degree course allows you to combine the study of mathematics with computer science and post-primary teaching education. This is a four year concurrent initial teacher education programme and includes a number of school placement opportunities throughout the course. At the end of this four year course graduates will be eligible to teach computer science and mathematics

Design-led projects and a strong focus on design, woodwork, CAD and graphics ensures graduates are competent and confident in their role as a professional teacher. School Placements each year provide students with experience of the classroom, the role of the teacher and the whole school environment in a structured and supportive way.

You can choose to study two languages from modern languages (French, Spanish, German or Italian) and/or an Ghaeilge. Alternatively, you can choose to major in an Ghaeilge alone.

You will engage in modules to develop your language proficiency skills, building your linguistic competencies while also learning about the culture and literature of the language(s) through an interrogation of key texts.

You will also develop your skills as a teacher as you progress through the course, undertaking modules in foundation disciplines (history/sociology/psychology/philosophy of education, curriculum studies) and professional studies (communication skills, digital learning, research) while also engaging in school placement (in both primary and post-primary schools).

Teachers of Irish are now in high demand in secondary schools, both in English-speaking schools and also in Gaelcholáistí. Our BEd degree enables students to qualify as teachers of Irish in combination with a second subject through a 4-year undergraduate teaching degree. The second subjects offered in this degree are French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Mathematical Studies.
