Theatre Studies encompass all the arts that make up the live experience we call theatre – including costume, lighting, sound, devising, directing, design, dramaturgy and playwriting. We also study the meaning behind theatre, analysing culture and politics, space and place, the presence of audience and performers, and the use of digital technology.

What is Drama?
Drama exists on and off the stage. Theatre happens in our everyday life. It is the basis for story-telling and other forms of performance within the creative arts. It has its origins in sacred ritual and remains central today as part of our sensemaking as we negotiate our place in the world.

What is Middle Eastern, Jewish and Islamic Civilisations?
The cultures and societies of the Middle East have been deeply influential in shaping European and western values. In spite of this, the region and its peoples are often misunderstood and represented. Middle Eastern, Jewish and Islamic Civilisations is the study of the historical origins as well as contemporary culture of a wide range of societies of the region, providing you with an insight into the contemporary Middle East and to the challenges of diversity and multiculturalism in an increasingly globalised world.

Drama Studies

The course explores the relationship between the theory and practice of Drama and Theatre to discover how and why they work. The strong developmental emphasis of the courses requires a particular blend of practical and academic skills. In addition to a high level of analytical ability and creativity you will need to possess resourcefulness and self-motivation.

Students combine this subject with their choice of Italian, Russian or Spanish.

This course is perfect for students who know they want to work in areas of Theatre and Film but have not yet decided on which sector to specialise in. The course offers potential performing arts students the ability to develop all the skills necessary not only in voice, acting and movement, but also in film studies, film production and postproduction resulting in a well-rounded and diversly skilled graduate.

This course is designed for students who aspire to work in the fields of drama, theatre, and film. It offers comprehensive training in performance, technical theatre, and film, preparing students to enter the industry as versatile and interdisciplinary practitioners. The structure of the course allows students the time and flexibility to explore their interests and develop their individual strengths.

This programme has been developed in conjunction with people working in the industries that employ our graduates. We aim to produce graduates who understand how medicines and healthcare products, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals, are manufactured and checked to make sure they are safe, effective, and of a high quality. Drug and Medicinal Product Analysis is a highly relevant programme that leads to excellent job prospects. 

Inaugurated in November 2017, the Dual BA Program between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University builds upon the success of two preexisting international dual degree programs within the School of General Studies, and a long-standing exchange program partnership between both universities. The second transatlantic undergraduate program at Columbia University, the Dual BA Program builds upon previous partnerships in both Europe and Asia and serves as a model for future cooperative efforts between Columbia and international universities.

The Dual BA Program offers students an international educational experience with a program spanning two continents and cosmopolitan cities. The course addresses contemporary retail management needs that reflect the rapidly changing economic and technological environment. It aims to provide a broad technologically informed business education for future retail managers that reflects the changing needs of the sector.

Early Irish is the language in use in Ireland from the earliest period for which there are records up to the year 1200. The course covers the language and literature from the emergence of writing at the arrival of Christianity in Ireland to the production of the great saga manuscripts of the twelfth century.

The BA (Hons) Early Childhood Care & Education is a three-year level 8 honours degree awarded by University of Essex. The programme examines how play, learning, and policy influence young children’s development across historical, political, and cultural contexts.

Delivered through blended learning, this honours degree allows students to continue working full-time while completing their qualification. Throughout the three-year programme, learners develop a strong understanding of children’s rights, health and wellbeing, diversity, and inclusive practice, drawing on disciplines including psychology, sociology, education, and health studies.

The BA (Ord) Early Childhood Care & Education is a level 7 degree, awarded by University of Essex, designed for early years professionals who want to progress their qualifications while continuing to work full-time.

Delivered through blended learning, the programme supports work-study balance through structured online learning, evening webinars, and one-to-one tutor support. Students are also required to complete 450 hours of placement in an early years setting each academic year.

Early Childhood Care and Education course aims to develop learners to the highest level of professional competence as practitioners.
