This programme is accredited by IACP.

This course is designed for people who wish to become professional therapists, or for those who have an opportunity to use counselling skills as part of their work. The programme will also appeal to a variety of professionals who wish to augment and build upon previous training in the addiction, social care, health, education and mental health professions.

IICP operate a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy whereby, under certain conditions, learners can gain access to the BSc (Hons) Degree programme at an advanced stage.

While undertaking this dynamic and exciting programme of study, learners are guided and nurtured as they acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and competence to become effective practitioners. Learners are fully supported in terms of obtaining a relevant clinical placement, where they can complete the required client hours.

This programme is aimed at non-counselling and/or psychotherapy graduates. It is primarily a conversion programme, and will set its graduates on the path towards becoming accredited members of our professional counselling and psychotherapy body. Successful completion of this programme will satisfy the academic and professional criteria required for entry into IICP College two year Masters programme.

In this speciality field, intellectual disability nurses work as part of a cross-disciplinary team that strives to enable and empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Intellectual disability can affect two aspects of people’s lives – their intellectual functioning (such as learning, problem solving, judgement) and their adaptive functioning (in activities of daily life such as communication and independent living). During this course, you’ll come to develop the  professional knowledge, skills and attitudes you’ll need to care for people with intellectual disability.

Over the duration of the course, students will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet the specific needs of people with an intellectual disability in a safe, competent, and compassionate manner. Student’s academic and clinical knowledge will be developed throughout this rewarding course using simulated learning environments and modern learning spaces.

The intellectual disability nurse is a professional, who works autonomously and collaboratively to provide person-centred care and support to persons of all ages, with a variety of abilities and capabilities.

This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and, professional values necessary to provide high-quality, competent and caring practice in your chosen discipline of nursing. There are two components to the nursing degree course; a theoretical component and a practice (clinical/community) component.
