Music Education provides for the academic, artistic and professional requirements of those wishing to become music teachers at secondary school level in Ireland (including Northern Ireland).

The degree is taught in partnership between the RIAM, Trinity College Dublin and TU Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama.

This practical Music Performance course will support your ambitions for a career as a performer, composer, producer, manager, teacher or technician. You will be supported to develop performance skills through specialist lessons for instrumental and ensemble performance in a range of different styles. The course will develop your theoretical understanding of music styles, composition and a detailed understanding of the music industry and music management.

As a practical course, assessment is through a range of live music performance projects, including live performance gigs at professional venues. There are excellent progression links to music studies at Higher Education.

This music PLC course is designed for students who are seeking to pursue a career in music performance or continue to further music education at third level. The programme modules compliment the creative music performance work of the student by giving a broad knowledge base on the music industry, composition and theory skills. Students also perform regularly in live music venues in Galway City as part of their assessment and work experience.

The BA in Music Performance is a course that focuses on practice and is aimed primarily at students who wish to pursue a professional career in performance. The degree is distinguished by its inclusive approach and will have broad appeal to musicians who specialise in one or more of a range of performing traditions, including classical, folk, traditional, pop, rock, jazz, singer/songwriter, electronic and experimental.

Students gain extensive experience of performing in solo, ensemble and improvised settings in addition to developing skills for performing in the recording studio and the use of technology in performance practice.

The Music Performance and Industry Practice course has been designed to prepare learners for opportunities in the music industry. This is achieved by providing learners with essential music theory, an introduction to recording skills, music practice, event production, and broad insight into the music industry.

This program is designed to immerse students in the live music and entertainment industry, focusing on the practical and collaborative skills needed for the stage and beyond. Students engage in hands-on performance training and work within multi-disciplinary teams to plan, manage, and produce professional-grade live concerts and events, bridging the gap between artistic talent and industry-standard production.

Advanced Music Performance is a progressive course for performing musicians, building on the skills and knowledge previously achieved at Level 5. Focus is on the development of high-level performance technique and support you to engage with the fast-paced music industry and its wide variety of career opportunities for skilled creatives.

In addition to solo and group performance development, you will build on your skills and knowledge in many related areas including song writing, sound engineering, event management, promotion and music management.

You will gain experience on stage and in a working studio, learn how to set up equipment for live audio and recording and have access to one-to-one instrument tuition from highly-trained working musicians.

This one year Music Performance and Production course will provide students with knowledge of music theory and its practical application to musical styles and genres including writing their own songs. Students explore the structure of the music industry in addition to gaining practical skills in recording and producing music in a modern production environment. Students also learn how to plan and organise events as part of the course.

As Ireland’s only Avid Pro Tools Pro School (and one of only six in Europe), you will acquire official certification in Avid Pro Tools.

Alongside studio and live recording, this programme develops skills in critical listening and audio analysis, investigations of form and aural training, and music theory. You will also learn vital skills in the online promotion of music, project leadership, and marketing.

This degree course is aimed at students who want to work in the music and audio production industry. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills needed to perform at a high-level in a number of modern technical environments, including: recording studios, video editing suites, and in live theatre. 

This honours degree course is designed for students wishing to build a career in the Music and Audio production industry. During the course, students will learn to compose, produce, and distribute music and audio for digital reproduction mediums. Students also develop the ability create, engineer, and promote music and audio-visual events using industry standard technologies and methods.

The programme produces graduates with the technical, creative, and professional skills required by employers in the music and audio industries. Graduates possess a broad awareness of the different roles in the industry and the experience required to take up employment on small or large-scale projects. They are confident self-starters that can collaborate well with others in both technical and creative capacities.

Our Certificate in Music Production for Games is available part-time over a one-year period. The aim of the course is to equip students with a high level of competence in specific skills for the areas of applications technology, games development, sound design, and much more.

This course introduces the fundamentals of music production across live, home, and professional studio environments. Students learn from industry-seasoned musicians, gaining both technical expertise and the performance perspective required for high-quality audio recording. The curriculum covers the operation of professional sound equipment and industry-standard software, alongside essential project management and business skills.

Music Teaching and Performance is a music qualification that develops two deeply interconnected skills required by every professional musician. This flexible course provides a choice of performance or pedagogy focused pathways, putting students in charge of their own specialism.

Please note the Pedagody Pathway is not available for the Academic Year 2026/27.

You will develop practical skills in music production, audio editing, multimedia sound and live sound in our professional facilities. This is matched with specialist lessons in MIDI sequencing, location recording and music technology to help you explore your creative musical potential.

Practical projects will also enable you to learn about the world of live sound, events management and the music industry. This course features a high level of training in a wide range of industry standard music production software including Logic Pro® and Pro Tools®.
