Physiotherapy (also known as physical therapy) places full and functional movement at the heart of what it means to be healthy.

It involves treating patients of all ages with a range of illnesses and conditions, including those with back and neck problems, sports injuries, arthritis, or those recovering from strokes and operations. The focus of our treatment is exercise prescription. 

Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals responsible for developing, maintaining and restoring movement and functional ability in adults and children using evidence-based practice. Studying Physiotherapy in UCD will provide you with the skills and qualifications required to practice as a physiotherapist upon graduation. The Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy is a four-year degree programme which includes a total of 31 weeks of clinical practice in the last two years of the programme. The first year provides a foundation in Anatomy and Physiology, communication and behaviour, and an Introduction to Physiotherapy Practice. Over the remaining three years you will undertake studies in the various disciplines of physiotherapy including cardiorespiratory care, clinical neurology and musculoskeletal disorders for people across the lifespan. Research and evidence-based practice are core elements underpinning the programme.

Physiotherapy is a science-based profession focused on maintaining or improving mobility, physical abilities, fitness and quality of life. Physiotherapists use their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to employ movement, exercise therapy and other physical methods. Some countries refer to physiotherapy as 'physical therapy'.

Physiotherapists work with people of all ages who are affected by injury, illness or disability. They are a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team and play an important role in preventive health and maximising function.

Chevron College is currently accepting registration of interest for a new 3-year Undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Physiotherapy Degree which is being run in partnership with the University of East London.

The Physiotherapist Assistant’s role will be to work under the direction and guidance of a Chartered Physiotherapist to assess, treat and support recovering clients.

This one-year Physiotherapy Studies course introduces the core principles of rehabilitation, focusing on the assessment and treatment of mobility issues resulting from injury, illness, or aging. Students develop the practical skills necessary to support HSE healthcare teams in delivering effective therapy programs and restoring client movement. Highlighting the program's hands-on approach, practical sessions are held at premier facilities, including the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and the National Gymnastics Training Centre.

On this course, you will develop foundational skills and knowledge in subjects related to physiotherapy, both theoretical and practical. This will prepare you for progression to Higher Level study.

This course gives students the knowledge, experience, and teaching skills required to launch their careers as professional, confident Pilates instructors.  Over the course of the academic year, students have the time and support to develop their own Pilates practice, while also gaining essential Pilates teaching experience in a supervised setting. Students learn to design classes and develop expertise in offering individual modifications.

Pipefitters install, repair and maintain high and low- pressure pipe systems used in commercial and industrial installations. You will work on piping systems that carry all kinds of liquids, gaseous and solid materials, and provide a wide range of services including welding and fabrication in a variety of industries. MTU is the only Technological University or Institute of Technology in the country which offers craft level apprenticeship courses in pipefitting.

The Certificate in Plant-Based Cooking and Sustainable Practices is a short course designed to upskill existing culinary staff and potential new entrants in the skills required to serve the growth in demand for newer, plant-based menu options in the hospitality and broader food service sector, and do so in a sustainable way. It provides an upskilling opportunity for existing staff, equally an opportunity for a first qualification directed to people looking to develop a career in hospitality and food sector.
