B.A. (Mod) in Computer Science, Linguistics and a Language. CSLL combines the study of Computer Science; a natural language, either Spanish, French or Irish; and Linguistics.

A computer system engineer combines knowledge of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to develop, test, and evaluate software for personal computers and more. Students will gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of computer systems, embedded systems, systems programming and real-time systems, along with knowledge and understanding of modern computer architectures.

The primary focus of this course is on developing your technical and practical skills with computers and with the basics to allow you to work as part of a team in a support capacity in maintaining ICT infrastructure in an organisation. The fourth semester in year two provides students with the opportunity to get experience of a work placement and to put into practice what they have learned in the Institute.

This is a one-year, full-time course designed to equip learners with the practical vocational skills and technical knowledge required to install, configure, and maintain modern computer systems and basic network infrastructures. Operating within the college's dedicated PC Maintenance Lab, students receive comprehensive hands-on training in building and customizing desktop computers and deploying diverse operating systems across multiple hardware platforms. The curriculum introduces foundational coding concepts and teaches learners how to design, secure, and manage small business network architectures using both physical equipment and virtual environments. This course serves as an ideal launchpad for technical roles or advanced studies in network administration, software development, cybersecurity, and tech support.

This full-time course is designed to give students the opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to implement and support PC systems and networks. During the course students will build PCs and troubleshoot hardware issues. They install, optimise and troubleshoot both the Windows and Linux Operating Systems, and setup Local Area Networks.

Course participants will learn about the importance of security within the IT industry while also learning the fundamentals of Software Development and Website Design.

This course is designed to introduce the learner to the fundamentals of installation, configuration and maintenance of computer systems and basic networks. It also facilitates progression in education including further and higher, education or training.
