The one-year Physiotherapy Assistant (Health Service Skills) course is designed to equip the learner with the opportunity of obtaining a Major QQI Level 5 Award in Health Service Skills 5M3782. This course aims to equip the learner with the necessary skill required to progress on to potential employment as a Physiotherapy Assistant or a Health Care Assistant. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

This one-year Physiotherapy Studies course introduces the core principles of rehabilitation, focusing on the assessment and treatment of mobility issues resulting from injury, illness, or aging. Students develop the practical skills necessary to support HSE healthcare teams in delivering effective therapy programs and restoring client movement. A construction plant fitter services, diagnoses and resolve technical issues in mobile equipment used in materials handling for the off-road and on-road construction, excavation, mining, forestry and waste management industries. They carry out routine service procedures as recommended by the manufacturers; and diagnose and resolve problems with the operation of the mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems of machines and equipment such as tracked excavators, forklifts, and cranes.

This module will equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to identify a wide range of plants, their characteristics and their uses in different horticultural situations.

The aim of this programme is to equip learners with the knowledge, skill and competency to achieve a QQI Level 4 in Plant Identification, Care and Maintenance. There will be a particular emphasis on skill development. Progression for successful learners will be to other Horticulture components at level 4 standard. The skills achieved on this programme may also assist entry to the workplace.

This award educates learners in protecting horticultural plants & crops from the affects of weeds, pests, diseases and disorders and to also select the appropriate control measures. Learners upon completion can competently review the affects, reproduction, spread and control of weeds and apply pesticides with a knapsack sprayer in accordance with recommended safe practice. Participants will have developed these skills ensuring that safe working practices are met when in use of equipment, chemical and other materials meeting all health and safety requirements.

This module will equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to understand plant structure, processes, growth and development in a horticultural context.

A plasterer is involved in the preparation and application of protective covering to interior and exterior building surfaces. This work can also involve applying decorative marking and finishes to walls such as pebbledash to achieve a required finish. A plasterer may be required to lay the finishing surface of cement floors for houses, factories and garages. Fibrous plasterers may work from architects’ designs or copy pieces of plasterwork from artists’ drawings or from photographs to produce ornamental work.

The course is for who have successfully completed a level 5 major award in a relevant area e.g. childcare, education, special needs assisting, community care, healthcare or social care and offers a progression opportunity at level 6 with employment prospects.

Whether working in Primary Schools, HSE services, public or private practices, participants will gain practical expertise in supporting children’s psychological well-being through play therapy.
