This comprehensive major award develops person centred care skills while preparing students for further education in nursing, health science and social care pathways.

The Healthcare Support Traineeship at Cavan and Monaghan ETB (CMETB) is a fully funded, practical training program designed to equip learners with the vital skills, knowledge, and competencies required to work as professional Healthcare Workers. Co-funded by the Irish Government and the European Union, this course blends classroom theory with an extensive, year-long work experience component that allows students to apply their knowledge directly in real-world settings while showcasing their potential to prospective employers. To support learners, the traineeship provides additional financial benefits, including Training, Meal, Travel, or Accommodation allowances, alongside access to the National Childcare Scheme.

This program is specifically designed to meet the growing demands of the transport and logistics industry by training professional drivers to obtain a Category C (Heavy Goods Vehicle - Rigid) license. The curriculum covers all aspects of operating large rigid-body vehicles, including advanced driving maneuvers, vehicle safety checks, and load securing techniques. By combining practical behind-the-wheel training with essential theory, the course ensures that learners are fully prepared to pass their driving tests and operate high-capacity vehicles safely and efficiently on public roads.

The Category C+E (Articulated Truck) program is an advanced professional training course designed to qualify drivers for the highest level of heavy goods vehicle operation. This course focuses on the mastery of "Artic" vehicles, covering complex maneuvers such as coupling and uncoupling trailers, precision reversing, and navigating large-scale vehicles through diverse road environments. Students will gain deep expertise in vehicle safety systems, advanced load distribution, and international transport regulations. 

The BA (Honours) in Heritage Studies has an applied focus and is interdisciplinary in nature – linking heritage with history, geography, archaeology, tourism, genealogy, museum studies, folklore, literature, planning, computing, digital media, business and languages. This two-year Higher Certificate in Heritage Studies at GMIT Galway campus provides students with a broad-based knowledge and understanding of the built, cultural, natural, and digital heritages of Ireland and Europe.
