The Certificate in General Learning and Personal Development (CGLPD) at Mary Immaculate College is a two-year programme for people with intellectual disabilities delivered in an inclusive third level setting. This honours degree programme takes advantage of the various areas of expertise available at the three regional hospitals in the Health Service Executive Midlands area in Tullamore, Portlaoise and Mullingar, throughout the Midlands (Laois/Offaly and Longford/Westmeath) and with private healthcare facilities nationally. 

General nursing involves caring for people of all ages both in hospital and community care settings. The Bachelor of Nursing Science (General) course is a four-year degree programme provided in partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE) West, Blackrock Health Galway Clinic, Bon Secours Hospital Galway. The programme consists of theoretical and clinical modules. The theoretical content aims to provide students with the knowledge necessary to underpin their professional practice.

This four-year degree programme integrates theory and practice, preparing our students to be world-class practitioners.

As key members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team and in partnership with patients, general nurses provide for the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of persons with acute or chronic physical illness.

The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in General Nursing, is a four year degree pre-registration course. On completion of the course, graduates will be eligible to register as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) having obtained an university accredited honours degree awarded. The course is offered in conjunction with Sligo University Hospital and other Health Service Executive (HSE) organisations and groups in the Western region.
