You will have a mixture of classroom-based modules, customer service skills and role play practice. You will have opportunities to develop skills such as teamwork, communications and time management. There will also be opportunities for relevant work experience. You will be expected to complete assignments and exams throughout the year. Course work will consist of a combination of onsite & online learning. Visits are also arranged to businesses and events during the year.

The Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Hotel Management further enhances learners' core competencies, strategic acumen, and in-depth understanding of hotel management principles.

This programme offers those currently employed or seeking employment in the hotel industry the opportunity to pursue a degree in hotel management while simultaneously working with their sponsoring employer. Each year the programme will comprise of the delivery of 60 credits of study through a blended learning approach. This programme will require students to spend two blocks of four weeks per annum at MTU Kerry North Campus’ state-of-the-art facilities in the Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Department. During this period a number of modules will be delivered. The remaining modules will be delivered online and through work-based learning.

An exit award, the Higher Certificate in Hotel Supervisory Management, is available after successful completion of year two.

Human Biology is the integrated study of human anatomy and physiology, including the study of the body in health and disease. It covers a wide range of topics, ranging from genetics, microbiology and immunology to the core disciplines of anatomy, microanatomy and physiology.

The degree is designed to allow a greater degree of flexibility in the choice of modules, in comparison to the closely related degree in Biomedical Sciences.

The Human Health and Disease degree trains students for work in the field of biomedical research. Human Nutrition in ATU Sligo combines a number of scientific disciplines to provide a thorough understanding of the role of diet and nutrition in health and in the prevention of major diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis. The programme aims to provide participants with knowledge on the origins and rationale for regulations; how to prepare for and engage positively with inspections as well as an understanding and development of the necessary competencies required to abide by employment law when it comes to managing staff.

The Certificate in Human Service Manager Skills Special Purpose Award at Level 6 meets the management qualification requirements set out in the HIQA Standards.
