The DCU Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Technology and Information Systems is a Level 8 (on the National Framework of Qualifications), honours degree programme, which provides students with critical insight into the application of Information Technology and Information Systems to the processes of management, administration and innovation within a range of businesses and organisations. Graduates of the programme will emerge with a unique mix of skills in IT, IS and business.

This is not a CAO entry course - course fees required - apply directly to the college.

Students learn how to use techniques from disciplines such as business, mathematics, computer science, statistics and management science to solve real world problems. There is also a firm emphasis on interpersonal skills such as verbal communication, interviewing, teamwork and report writing.

This course will enable the learner to develop skills to work in a dynamic business environment. It will give the learner an insight into Management, Human Resources and Business law as well as finance and marketing.

The course provide learners with a portfolio of skills required to work in the Business Management, Human Resource Management and Law areas of an organisation whilst also providing the necessary entry requirements for entry to Third level. It also gives the learner essential transferable skills that can be applied to a work environment, such as goal setting, time management, problem solving and conflict resolution.

Engineering discipline are manufacturing technology and design for manufacture combined with business and enterprise management. In this course, you’ll acquire the right mix of technical, managerial and communication skills that will equip you for a wide range of careers in a broad spectrum of industries. 

The Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering is a three year level 7 programme. Graduates are trained in the core areas of mechatronics, robotics, production plant, power systems, engineering design, manufacturing technology, operations and quality management.

A manufacturing engineer facilitates efficient operations within the production area, to optimise existing processes, implement new processes and to ensure that production goals are met. This involves the monitoring of the performance of equipment, machines and tools and correct equipment problems. A manufacturing engineer analyses and solves problems using basic engineering principles leading to new or improved products. It also involves the application of project management methodologies to manage production and product design.

Those that successfully complete the programme will be awarded a Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering degree from MTU.

On completion of this three year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified manufacturing engineer, with a QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering.

You may then choose to work as a manufacturing engineer in the manufacturing industry across sectors such as Pharma, Med-tech, engineering and food.

This is a three year, Level 7 Apprenticeship, with 70% of time spent in the workplace, and 30% in TUS. This course will suits individuals who are existing Production Operators/Technicians who want to train or retrain in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, and progress to a level 7 qualification.

Please note that you must already be employed in a Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship contract before you can apply for the Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship.

This programme will deliver high quality manufacturing engineering graduates to support the local, national, and international manufacturing and service industries. It will provide the opportunity for prospective students to gain transferable knowledge and skills in order to develop rewarding and progressive careers.

This Manufacturing Operations runs twice a year. The programme was developed in consultation with the Life Sciences Industry, to give learners the knowledge and skill required by industry. After graduating, learners are qualified to seek work as Process Operator/Technician in Cork’s booming Life Sciences sector.

A manufacturing technician provides technical support for manufacturing operations including troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and validation and qualification activities of the manufacturing site. It will be necessary to work with production, operations,engineering support, quality, facilities, and safety to ensure that the engineering activities are completed as per defined project schedule. The job also involves coordinating corrective maintenance activities for production equipment within the manufacturing site.

Those that successfully complete the programme will be awarded a Level 6 Higher Certificate from MTU.

On completion of this two-year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified manufacturing technician, with a QQI Level 6 Higher Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering.

You may then choose to work as a manufacturing technician in the manufacturing industry across sectors such as Pharma, Med-tech, engineering and food production.

This Apprenticeship is a 2/3 year programme, with an approved employer, with 70% of the time spent on the job and the remaining 30% spent in the TUS Midwest Moylish Campus. Students will remain in paid employment for the 24-36 month period, allowing them to “earn while you learn”.

This programme is professionally accredited by Engineers Ireland. This is an objective evaluation and approval of engineering programmes, ensuring that they meet international standards, the needs of the engineering profession and broader responsibilities to society, environment and economy. Graduates of accredited programmes, at the appropriate standard, may go on to achieve one of the professional titles of Chartered Engineer, Associate Engineer and Engineering Technician.

An Electro-technical officer (ETO) operates, maintains and calibrates all electrical, electronic and ship’s equipment. The ETO’s role is not restricted to the engine room and they may also work on complex systems located throughout any vessel. This is an exciting programme to cater for the growing need on board ship for a specialist in electrical/electronic/networking systems.

The function of the marine engineer is to operate and maintain the engines, boilers, generators and other systems of ships. Most of the mechanical equipment aboard ship is operated and maintained by marine engineers. This course aims to provide a sound knowledge base of marine engineering.

This programme is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to work as an engineering operative on a small fishing vessel. The learner will gain knowledge about the machinery and equipment typically found on a fishing vessel. They will also gain skills in the operation and maintenance of such machinery and equipment.

Marine Science encompasses the study of marine life and environments, how they are formed and evolve, and how they are affected by human activity. Topics covered in this programme include marine biology, earth science, chemistry and experimental physics, mathematics, statistics, oceanography, meteorology, botany, geology and microbiology.

As a person-focused role, marketers are equipped with a broad skillset including, research, pricing, communication, branding, and psychology. This has served to make it a very enriching and engaging career choice with marketers acting as the public interface of a company and its products. Areas of specialism include digital marketing, social marketing, fashion marketing, and sports marketing all of which are skills in popular demand.

The BA (Hons) Marketing focuses on core areas of marketing such as communications, planning, management, consumer behaviour, services marketing, marketing research, strategic marketing digital marketing and events marketing. It aims to develop learners' knowledge of the theory and practice of marketing, necessary for them to secure employment and perform in all key areas of marketing in a broad range of employment environments.
