The Bachelor of Business in Recreation and Sport Management is a 4-year honours degree course. This degree is for students who love sport but are unsure what area of sport they would like to work in. Our unique course is equal part business and sport.

The programme is designed to give our students a wide knowledge base through classroom-based learning, practical classes in our state-of-the-art facilities and real-world experience through site visits, industrial engagement, experiential learning and of course our brilliant work placement programme.

The new BA (Honours) in Recruitment Practice is a three-year apprenticeship degree created in partnership with the Employment and Recruitment Federation (ERF). This recruitment apprenticeship programme is the first of its kind in Ireland and there are no other Level 8 degree programmes in recruitment or qualifications in recruitment that are on the National Framework of Qualifications.

This programme seeks to provide the appropriate education and training to allow successful graduates be registered with SOLAS as a Recruitment Executive apprentice. The programme will provide an alternative talent pipeline to the recruitment industry and offer a new career path for candidates. The course is open to mature students, school leavers, current recruiters and anyone looking for a career change.

A refrigeration and air conditioning craftsperson installs, maintains and repairs all types of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment and systems. They can work in industries such as domestic, marine, commercial and industrial. They can install, maintain and repair items such as household, hospital, hotel and shop refrigerators, display cabinets, deep freezers, cooling plants, cold rooms and refrigerated transport.

If you are interested in working in the tourism activity sector providing a range of professional guiding services for visitors, the Local and Regional Guiding programme is designed for you. This programme will provide you with the professional, social, technical and administrative skills necessary to offer a quality service to domestic and overseas visitors.

This exciting programme will provide participants with the skills, knowledge and competencies required to provide a comprehensive guiding service for tourists visiting and travelling in Ireland. In 2018, Tourism Ireland aims to grow overseas tourism revenue to €6 billion for the island of Ireland; and to grow visitor numbers to 10.8 million.

The purpose of this award (which was developed in collaboration with Fáilte Ireland) is to enable learners to acquire the relevant knowledge, skills and competencies to work effectively as a Tourist Guide in the greater Dublin Region and surrounding area. It also provides learners with the necessary business skills needed to start their own tour guiding business.

This innovative program is tailored for individuals passionate about contributing to the rehabilitation and holistic well-being of patients through therapeutic activities and rehabilitation therapy. The course aims to train students to manage and deliver therapeutic activities within healthcare environments effectively. Focusing on physical, mental, and social well-being, the program prepares students to create engaging therapeutic programs tailored to individual patient needs, promoting comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery processes.

This programme covers all the technologies needed to produce energy and in particular electrical energy from renewable sources, to monitor and control energy systems and to connect them to the electricity grid. It is a mixture of theory and practical hands-on learning in all aspects of Renewable Energy Technology, electrical technology and automated monitoring and control systems.

As part of this Renewable and Engineering Technology (Year 2) course, students are given the opportunity to gain work experience in a relevant company for 2-3 days per week with class contact confined to 3 full-time days per week. There is a very high employment rate from this course.

A traineeship combines classroom-based learning in Monaghan Institute with work based learning which is delivered in Activ8 thus providing the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and competence within a supportive working environment.

Individuals will have exposure to state of the art Training Rig, Power Tools and also gain an awareness of construction skills.

The aim of this course is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of renewable energy systems, their technologies, and their applications in the construction sector.

In this course, learners will explore various renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and geothermal systems, and learn how to incorporate them into construction processes to contribute to the construction of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building.

Renewable energy (RE) has seen rapid development in the last five years worldwide, especially in the area of wind turbines and small scale domestic systems. This Renewable Energy Technology and Control Systems (Year 1) course will enable students to develop an understanding of sustainability issues and renewable energy systems, to examine the role of microprocessor control in industry, and to design and build a control system which requires a number of inputs and outputs. Students will develop knowledge, skills and competence in areas such as solar photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal and domestic wind turbine system specification and control systems used in industry.

This full-time course provides intensive, hands-on training for the food and beverage sector, specifically for roles in bars, restaurants, and hotels. Taught in a real-life hospitality setting, the program focuses on mastering practical skills in barista work, bar service, and restaurant operations. Students also have the opportunity to enhance their professional experience through international work placements via the Erasmus+ program.

The Diploma in Restaurant Management is designed with industry partners (IHF, Restaurant Association and Fáilte Ireland) to provide a professional career route for two specific groups of individuals, staff building a career in the restaurant sector or career changers. The programme also seeks to attract existing staff working in the sector who wish to gain a qualification and begin a management career.

The aim of this programme is to provide learners with the knowledge, practical skills and competence necessary for a career in a modern ever-changing restaurant environment. This will be achieved by developing modern food and beverage skills in various different styles of food service.
